October Parent Newsletter
Manvel Public School, 2022
A Note from the Principal . . .
Happy October!
We have seen a few cases of COVID pop up in the school/community over the past few weeks. Please remember that you have the flexibility to keep your child home if there is a positive case in their class, and work with their classroom teacher to get their assignments completed (like you would normally do if they stayed home and were sick). We are happy to work with you if you want to keep your child home for a week or so if positive cases have been identified in their classroom or at home. We trust families to be able to make informed decisions about their own children and what learning environment is the healthiest and safest for them.
Every six months, as mandated by the state, the Manvel School Board reviews our Health and Safety Plan for the district. If you would like to review our updated MPS 2022 Healthy Restart Plan, please check it out on our school website. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact Dr. Wheeler at dave.wheeler@manvelk8.com

The Middle School Teachers will be located in the gym during conference hours. Middle School parents are invited to stop by any time either night from 3:30-7:00 pm.
Friday, October 7th there will be NO SCHOOL for students, but teachers will be here working on current research and initiatives for teaching and learning.
Each year we partner with the Manvel Fire Department to spread awareness of fire safety during National Fire Safety Week. This year, Fire Safety Week is October 10th-14th. Students in the younger grades will get to visit with Manvel Firefighters and learn about safety from the Grand Forks Air Force Base personnel on Monday, October 10th. The Manvel Fire Department also purchased fire hats and coloring books for our students in PreK-2nd grade! There will be winners for a coloring contest and poster contest announced as well!
We are putting a special emphasis on RESILIENCE this month! Our students did a super job of practicing INTEGRITY last month.
We still have Yearbooks for sale from the 21-22 School Year. They are great keepsakes with so many fun memories ~ check them out or purchase one in the school office ~ they are $25.00 each.
Again, thanks for partnering with us to bring quality education to Manvel Public School! Your children are loved and cared for at MPS!

The winning class was Ms. Fuller's second grade, raising $851.00 and earning a PIZZA PARTY!
The Principal For-A-Day drawing winner was a second-grade student! Congratulations!
*Because this was such a successful fundraiser, we will save all the tickets and draw out each quarter for FOUR winners instead of one for this fundraiser!
We are fortunate to have such a great community who are so supportive of our school! Thank you so much!
Hearing Screenings with Miss Penny
Our 8th Grade had a great time in Wolf Ridge enjoying the fall colors and having a lot of fun experiences! Thanks to Mr. Twedell, Mr. Grosskreutz and all the chaperones who helped make this event possible!
The St. Jude's Bike-A-Thon was a Huge Success! Thanks to all the families who supported this great cause! MPS raised $3,965.00 to support St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
Miss Fuller's 2nd grade finished learning about Fairy Tales and Tall Tales and dressed up as characters from a Fairy Tale or Tall Tale ~ they also made some flapjacks just like Paul Bunyan.
After reading the book, The Outsiders, the 8th grade class enjoyed some local classic cars! Special thanks to our community members (and Mr. Ray 🤩) for giving rides and making this book come to life!
We had so many Mustang's earning Positive Office Referrals last month for INTEGRITY!
