Thursday, October 5
The School District of Beloit will join school districts throughout the state to salute their local education leaders during Wisconsin School Board Appreciation Week. This commemorative week is designed to recognize the contributions made by Wisconsin's school board members across the state, including the School District of Beloit’s School Board.
Wisconsin school board members are elected by their communities to manage local schools. These volunteer leaders are responsible for formulating school district policy, approving curricula, maintaining school facilities, and adhering to state and federal education law. Legal concerns and the complexities of school finance, including budgeting and taxation, require them to spend many hours in board training programs and personal study to enhance their understanding of these issues.
Our district’s deepest appreciation is extended to our dedicated Board members, President Sean Leavy, Vice President Megan Miller, Treasurer Brian Anderson, Clerk Gregg Schneider, Parliamentarian Amiee Leavy, Board Member Tia Johnson, and Board Member Brian Nichols. Together, they work to create a vision for what our community wants our school district to be and to make student achievement our top priority.
Please join me in thanking our school board members during Wisconsin School Board Appreciation Week.
In service,
Dr. Willie E. Garrison II
School District of Beloit Superintendent
Coffee and Connecting with the Superintendent
I invite you to join me this evening at my Coffee and Connecting with the Superintendent. This will be an opportunity for us to connect and get to know each other better.
Student Feedback is Important
Beginning on Wednesday, October 11, our 4th through 12th grade School District of Beloit students will have the opportunity to participate in a Student Survey. The survey will conclude on Wednesday, October 25. This survey is designed to measure your student’s engagement and learning at school.
Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month
In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, we reached out to our students and asked them what Hispanic Heritage Month means to them. We are excited to elevate the voices of our students and share their comments during this important month. Make sure to follow our Facebook page to see our students being highlighted or access our website to view the students we have highlighted thus far.
Please click on the photos below to enlarge the images and read our students' comments.
Seal-A-Smile
Through the Wisconsin Seal-A-Smile program, all SDB students will have access to free high-quality, school-based oral health prevention services provided by HealthNet of Rock County.
Dental sealants are quick and easy. Applying sealants in our schools saves your child time away from class and prevents your child from developing cavities.
