National Red Ribbon Week

We will be hosting "Spirit Days" associated with the Red Ribbon Week. Please note, that Halloween (October 31st) will be incorporated into our Spirit Week themes for the Red Ribbon Celebration. Students will be invited to dress as a Book Character and "Close the Books" on drugs.

For this day and all Spirit Days, dress should be conducive to learning. No masks are permitted. Students should be able to navigate the hallways, buses and bathrooms without incident, and therefore inflatable suits are not allowable.

Parents who are choosing to share a treat with their child's class as part of birthday celebrations have been asked to consider non-food items and notify the teacher if a "treat" is being provided to distribute. As we approach holidays that typically involve candy (think Halloween, Valentine's Day), we wanted to remind everyone of our concern for students with food allergies.

Here are some non-food items that you could consider if you are hoping to share something with the class:

• "Slap" bracelets
• Trading cards
• Color-click pens
• Pop-its, Figit spinners and the like
• Smencils (scented pencils)

If you have questions about classroom treats, your child's classroom teacher is probably be the best source for information.
