Message from the Principal
Good afternoon Templeton Families,
We hope this message finds you safe and well as we’re already into the middle of October! As we start our conference schedule our teachers are looking forward to sitting down with our families to talk about the best way to partner with you to support every student. If you haven’t signed up for a conference yet, please make sure to reach out to your child’s teacher.
With a new month comes new classwide awards that honor our students when they’re doing the right thing! These awards include The Golden Shoe Award (best behaved classroom in the hallway), The Golden Whistle Award (best behaved class at recess), The Golden Lunch Boat Award (best behaved class at lunch) and The Golden Broom Award (cleanest classroom). Finally, we’re also giving The Golden Plunger Award to the grade level with the cleanest neighborhood and the cleanest bathroom. We also have the classrooms with the highest attendance rates and those classrooms with the highest average number of iReady lessons passed in September. The winners are below!
It’s always a good day to be a Templeton Tiger!
Sincerely,
Rory Moore
Principal
Templeton Elementary School
Student Pick-Up Policy Reminders
This time of year we like to revisit our student pick-up policy.
We cannot release a student to anyone other than a parent/legal guardian unless we have written or verbal permission by the parent/legal guardian.
Please be prepared to present some form of identification to sign the student out early from school.
If there is a same-day change in transportation for a student, please make sure to notify the office before 1:30 p.m.
With many new families and even some new office staff, we appreciate your patience and help while we ensure that each student gets home safely!
TSO Highlights
Hello, Templeton community!
We are so excited for the upcoming Fall Festival. Amy Allen and her team have some really fun things in store for our students! See below for more information, and please be on the lookout for a signup genius to volunteer in various ways that night. Lots of support is needed to make it a success.
Mark your calendars for our Scholastic Book Fair. It runs from October 27-November 3. More details can be found at the bottom of this newsletter.
Our next meeting will be held virtually the 3rd Tuesday of this month, October 17 at 7 pm. We hope to see you there!
Fall Festival
It's that time of year again, which means time for Templeton's Annual Fall Festival. This year the festival will be held on Friday, November 3 from 5-7 p.m. Costumes will be welcome, even encouraged, but please keep them school appropriate (no offensive costumes or weapons of any kind -- plastic or real). Stop by the class neighborhoods for candy and see Art Lit's latest project, self portraits. Don't forget to stop by the Scholastic Book Fair and enter the costume contest for a chance to win a free book. So get your costumes and get ready for games, crafts, treats and more!
We'll be in need of volunteers, so a signup genius will be sent out within the next couple weeks. In the meantime, donations of candy would be appreciated and can be dropped off at the main office. Any questions, feel free to reach out to Amy at fallfestival@templeton-pso.org.
Vision Screening: October 18
In partnership with the Oregon Lions and our district nurse, complimentary vision screenings will take place on Wednesday, October 18. This is a non-invasive screening that takes less than 30 seconds. Please contact the Templeton office if you have questions or wish to opt-out your student. General information can be found on the Oregon Lions website.
Volunteers are needed: Please sign up here.
Art Lit Updates
Here are a few pictures from our first Art Lit project on artist William H Johnson. He loved to celebrate the beauty of the culture and people around him. Students got to create self portraits to celebrate their own beauty, and these will be up around the school for the Fall Festival. We will start our second project in November, so if you are interested in teaching art in your child's classroom, please reach out to us at artlit@templeton-pso.org.
Spirit Wear Store is Open!
Did you miss Templeton’s Spirit Wear sale? We are re-opening our store for a short time, starting now. Get your orders in by October 22 and receive your spirit wear by mid-November.
