WEB Info
Hey MMS Wolves,
Are you a current 7th graders that is interested in being a WEB Leader for the 2023/2024 school year? Fantastic
WHAT’S WEB? WEB is an orientation program to welcome in our 6th graders so that they get off to a great start at Mountain View Middle School. You, as a WEB Leader, would play a crucial role in that because you can share what you’ve learned through the years you’ve been here so far. You, along with other 8th graders, will be trained in how to work with incoming 6th graders. You and a partner will have a small group of about ten 6th graders that you will guide, mentor and lead through the year.
WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS? Well, because we need student leaders to step up and be an important part of our school. Since you have been recognized as a Leader, here’s your chance. And, it’s going to be fun! Who doesn’t want to have fun?
WHAT’S THE COMMITMENT? You can see on the attached application that if you are selected to be a WEB Leader, there are some mandatory dates. It all starts with a fun, interactive day where you get to meet your fellow WEB Leaders, then a couple training days, then orientation and then reconnecting throughout the school year so that the 6th graders know that someone has their back. It sounds like a lot but it takes a lot to make a difference in the world. Attached, you will find a WEB Leader Application. If you are interested in applying, please fill out the entire form and turn it in by the deadline: April 22nd at 2:50PM.
Mandatory WEB Dates:
Spring Play Day: June 2nd during 5th and 6th period
WEB Leader Training Days: Aug 24th and 25th from 8am-1pm @MMS (Bring a lunch both days)
Aug 31st from 4-6pm @MMS
6th Grade Orientation Day: Sept 5th arrive @MMS by 6:45 AM

If you would like to learn more about being a WEB Leader before you apply, we’ll be hosting a few meetings for you to find out more:

Family Survey: How are our Schools Doing?
We strive to provide the best possible education for all students. In doing so, feedback is critical in helping our schools continually improve. On April 11, the District emailed all families a link to a survey, inviting your sharing of perceptions about the job we are doing in providing a quality education for your child(ren).
Your survey responses, along with other research and analysis, play an important part in the development of each school’s annual improvement plan, which includes goals that are specific, data-driven and measurable.
Families with multiple children may complete one survey per child. If you don’t have an email address on file with the district, or if you didn’t receive the email message, use this link to access the family survey. Hard copies are also available at your child’s school.
Thanks, in advance, for your time and participation. The survey deadline is April 25.

Progress Reports
Your students Quarter 3 progress report is now available in Family Access.
HIV/AIDS Prevention Curriculum: Parent Review Night, may 3
Washington state law requires that every student receive HIV/AIDs prevention education in grades 5 through 12. As the unit covers sensitive topics, state law and SBLSD board policy require that parents/guardians are provided the opportunity to preview the lessons.
The District is hosting a curriculum night for families to preview the HIV/AIDS prevention curriculum for students enrolled in: 6th and 7th grade students (HIV/AIDS) 8th grade Skills for Life, 2nd semester (HIV/AIDS) 9th grade Health classes (Health content) Applicable 10th through 12th grade classes (HIV/AIDS) Curriculum will be available for preview. This is an opportunity for parents and guardians to understand the health content for grades 6-12, preview teaching materials and ask questions about the resources used in the classroom. Family Preview Night May 3, 4:30-6 p.m. SBLSD Central Office Board Room (1202 Wood Ave. in Sumner) Parents/guardians wishing to exclude their child from the state-required HIV/AIDS curriculum must preview this curriculum and sign the exclusion form.
