Student Achievement
Ms. Guerra's 2nd grade class worked studying their spelling words! Here they are showing off their knowledge doing their spelling test! Of course they nailed it! Keep up the great work!
Ms. Kauffman is teaching a lesson about 'I Cant Believe You Said That!' This was all about making good choices when it comes to how you talk to your friends/peers. This teaches the students inappropriate and appropriate conversations. There were 3 parts of the lesson which were how to use your social filter, your talking bubble and thinking bubble.
Congratulations to our 2nd and 3rd grade students of the month for the character word- Acceptance.
Thank you for making Slaybaugh a better place!
Mrs. Dempsey’s students finished their engineering unit by hosting a “GT Game Gallery” for the third grade. The games featured were designed and constructed by the students. Each game incorporated math and movement. Everyone enjoyed playing Slaybaugh Six, Extreme Math Ladder Ball, and Catch the Spider!
Our librarian, Ms. Sullivan shares her love of reading with each one of her students. They start off reading a book, talking about the book and doing centers. Library is the place to be!
Ms. Fogleman's music class was helping Alder Avenue ED Foundation mini grant 'All Heros Don't Wear Capes.' This is a special tribute to out service members and retired military!
Climate and Culture
We are so incredibly thankful for out cafeteria staff! They work tirelessly to make sure our students get the nourishment they need to help their brains grow big and strong!
Our Slaybaugh Primary school guidance counselor taught a lesson to Mrs. Schwegmans’ 1st grade. This month the lesson was based off the “I AM” series by author: Susan Verde. We read the book “I Am Yoga”. The story helps promote creativity and the power of self-expression. School yoga provides students ways to manage stress and balance emotions creating a calm classroom environment.
Ms. Huba's 2nd grade class had a visitor come in and explain all about epilepsy for November's Epilepsy Awareness month! A big thank you to Ms. Rago for helping us better understand epilepsy and how to help those in need!
Our Renaissance team created our "Kid"mmittee team that will be helping direct parents during parent/teacher conferences! Be sure to look for them in their blue t-shirts!
Community Pride
If you remember, last year, Ms. Sullivan won an educational grant from the Hamels Foundation in the amount of $10,000!! She created an idea to have an 'outdoor classroom' so the students could enjoy an outdoor lesson! We are working day in and out to get this project finished for the students to enjoy this year!
Nurse Ginger is mentoring a student nurse, Taylor. Taylor has been a huge help in charting our hearing and vision screenings! Ginger is so excited to guide Taylor into a strong future in the nursing field!
