Important Information from the Counseling Department
Junior/Senior Planning Calendar & Senior Checklist:
A postsecondary planning calendar was emailed to all juniors and seniors to help them through the postsecondary process on a monthly basis. This is a great resource to put on the refrigerator or in a locker! Feel free to contact your student’s counselor if you have additional questions.
College Applications:
Seniors should apply to the college of their choice online and then request their transcripts be sent electronically through their Naviance account. Once we have processed their transcript request, students will see that their transcript has been submitted in their Naviance account and in their college application portal. We encourage all seniors to complete their college applications and request their transcripts be processed prior to fall break.
Check out this website for the colleges and universities which are waiving their application fee during the month of September, College GO! Week (September 26-30), or on Why Apply Day (September 16). Students who qualify for the free or reduced lunch program or are 21st Century Scholars can see their counselor for a college application fee waiver.
Shelby County College Fair:
The annual Shelby County College Fair will be held on Thursday, September 29, from 6:00-7:30 PM in the Shelbyville High School auxiliary gymnasium. Approximately fifty representatives from four-year colleges, two-year colleges, technical schools, and military branches and academies are expected to attend. Themes are:

Floats will be displayed at the homecoming game as well. If you would like to help decorate your
grade’s float or hallway, please speak with Mrs. Tillison.
Powderpuff flag football
What better way to prepare for the big game than with the annual Powderpuff flag football
game?! For those who don't know, powderpuff is designed to showcase your team’s skill, speed,
ability and cunningness. Each grade will fight for the coveted top spot and a point towards this
year’s class cup. Will this year be another upset or will last year's winners, the Seniors, take the
championship again? Don't worry gentlemen, the girls won't get all the spotlight. This year we
are adding "pep squads" to our homecoming line-up. These squads will be tasked with cheering
their girls to victory. The best squad will be recognized while also earning a point towards the
class cup. The game will be held on the football field directly following the Homecoming Parade.
If you are interested in participating in this Golden Bear tradition, fill out the correct form on
Google Classroom. To participate in either event, a Powderpuff T-shirt must be purchased by clicking the link https://www.itsazshirt.com/shsppfb22/shop/home
