Family Bulletin for Dec. 21, 2023
News for December 21, 2023
We have made it to winter break! The building has continued to stay busy and this week students went on field trips, did unique experiments, and spread winter break cheer! Ms. Kaylin Burton also won the VFW Educator of the Year award - congratulations! I hope you have a blessed time with your family and doing things you love together! See you in 2024.
- December 22-January 1 - No School, Winter Break
- January 2 - Asynchronous Learning Day
- January 15 - No School, Martin Luther King Jr. Day
- January 23 - Trimester II Parent Teacher Conferences
- January 26 - Senior Panoramic Photo
This past weekend the dance team wrapped up their conference season. RDT is proud to have received the SEC Sportsmanship award and have placed 4th overall in the SEC! They also recognized and honored their seniors - Captain Kenna Smith, Kipper Lundberg and Josie Kinstler. The dance team looks forward to finishing out their season in the new year attending various invitationals and sections in February!
From December 14th - December 17th, in front of almost 1,000 people over the four days, RAHS Drama performed their fall musical, a musical adaptation of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, where over 125 RAHS students were involved in the making of this show! The music was fantastic (with jazz, funk, and gospel influences), the musicians and performers were incredible, the student crew built an incredible set, and on top of all that, they partnered with Mark Tinsley’s art classes and they painted the set and created additional set pieces and props; plus Matt Dehnel conducted the pit orchestra and Erik Lane directed the show!
The AP Psychology classes spent an incredible day at the Museum of Illusions experiencing hands-on how illusions work. We just ended our Sensation/Perception Unit yesterday, so it was a timely event. We are grateful for the generosity of our families for supporting the kids in this unique opportunity to experience their learning in a new way!
Ready for RAHS: Monday, January 8!
If your student is in 8th grade, please join us for Roseville Area High School's Registration Night on Monday, January 8 from 5:30-7 p.m. There will be information presentations at 5:45 p.m. AND 6:30 p.m., as well as school tours and opportunities to meet teachers and staff.

Registration
Registration for the 2024 – 25 school year is right around the corner. Please click on RAHS Registration to watch videos and learn about class options and to download the Registration Worksheet to Notability. Students can use the worksheet to record course numbers and prepare to register for classes. Registration portal will open on January 2nd and students will have until January 16th to enter their class choices. If there are questions about registration, class room teachers will show a “how to register" video on January 8th during 2nd hour.
Course Fees
If your child has a course in which there is a class fee the base price is being increased by $2 due to increased cost of living, tax increase, etc. We apologize for this inconvenience and are happy to work with any family that is not able to finance the course fee. If you have not yet filled out the educational benefits form you are encouraged to do so on the link below. If you would like support filling out the form please contact school staff.
Student Fees can be found on Edutrak, please log into your account and click on the gray shopping cart. The account will appear to be on "Hold"; this is due to any fees assigned to students. Once the fee is paid the hold will be manually removed the next business day.
Course Fees must be paid before students can register for sports/extra curricular activities.
Instructions if you have not yet created an account can be found HERE

Senior Ads
We have a fantastic opportunity for you to celebrate your senior or honor your graduating student with a timeless keepsake—a personalized senior or baby ad in this year's yearbook.
Our yearbook team is working tirelessly to ensure that the yearbook is not just a collection of photos but a reflection of the unique experiences and memories that have shaped this school year. One of the most cherished sections is the senior and baby ads (also known as recognition ads), where families can leave a lasting message for their graduating student.
Why consider a Senior or Baby Ad?
Personal Touch: Your heartfelt message and carefully selected photos will add a personal touch to your student's yearbook, making it a treasured keepsake for years to come.
Celebrate Achievements: Highlight your student's achievements, milestones, and growth throughout their academic journey.
Capture Memories: The yearbook is a time capsule, and a personalized ad allows you to capture and preserve precious memories.
To create your ad, simply visit Jostens Yearbook Ads or https://www.jostens.com/yearbooks/students-and-parents/yearbook-ads. The deadline for submissions is January 20, so don't miss the chance to be a part of this special tradition.
If you have any questions or need assistance with the ad creation process, the Jostens website provides helpful resources. Additionally, feel free to reach out to our yearbook team at christina.owen@isd623.org for any further assistance.
Thank you for your support in making this year's yearbook a memorable one. We look forward to seeing your personalized ad grace the pages of the yearbook.

This is an awesome new program that aims to make college more affordable for students on the lower end of the socioeconomic spectrum. Their application is free, with no essay requirement, and no ACT score requirement. So, it is incredibly easy to apply.

Students Leaving School During the School Day
Please remember that if your child is not feeling well during the school day, they must go through the Health Office. The Health Office needs to contact you for permission and write your child a pass to leave. If your child needs to leave for a planned appointment, the attendance office will give them a pass. Leaving the building without a pass from the health office or the attendance office will result in an unexcused absence.
Medications:
If there are medications that need to be given at school, please email the nurse for more information, or stop into the Health Office. The Health Office staff needs to confirm health conditions, paperwork, medications, and expiration dates.
COVID Updates
COVID Isolation Guidelines are the same as last school year. If your student tests positive for COVID they must stay home for 5 days (from symptom onset or date of positive test, whichever is first). Please notify the Health Office if your student tests positive. Health Office staff will talk through the dates and confirm the timeline. Students can return to school on day 6 and will be required to wear a mask at school on days 6-10.
There is no quarantine of close contacts; please send your student to school each day that they feel well.
We still have COVID tests. Contact the Health Office if you would like one sent home with your student.

Shaun Johnson Big Band Experience 🎤 🎶
The Shaun Johnson Big Band Experience is a rare, newcomer to traditional pop - fusing a big band spirit with an inventive edge and garnering a top 5 Billboard spot with the release of their first album. Shaun, an Emmy award-winning crooner (and lead singer of the internationally known vocal group, Tonic Sol-fa) indelibly stamps vocal jazz and swing with a contemporary punch to the delight of both traditionalists and newcomers.
