Lisbon Elementary PTA 4th Annual Community Night
Friday, November 17, 2023, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. @ Lisbon Elementary
In our local Lisbon/Woodbine/Mt. Airy and Howard County communities over 20,000 families, senior citizens, and children have food insecurity. These members of our community do not always have the means to have a Thanksgiving dinner with their families and we want to help change that. On November 17, 2023, we are having our 4th annual Community Night at Lisbon Elementary to sort and package at least 200 Thanksgiving meal baskets to give to people in our communities. They will be distributed on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at our local food pantry, located at Morgan Chapel UMC in Woodbine and at HCPSS on Monday, November 20, 2023. Last year with the support of local businesses and our Lisbon ES families we were able to give 259 families a Thanksgiving meal and hot breakfast over the break. We know the need increases each year and this year we are planning on making a minimum of 200 baskets.
We are asking the families of Lisbon Elementary and our community to help in these ways…
1. Join us on November 17, 2023, to put the 200 baskets together, make a craft for each basket, and spend time together as a community to give families an opportunity to have a Thanksgiving meal.
2. Donate food for the baskets. Please go to our sign-up genius page to sign up and send the items we need to the school by Monday, November 13, 2023. Items can also be purchased through our Amazon Wishlist and shipped directly to LES. Items can be dropped off in the vestibule or shipped to LES.
Information, signups and Amazon list at LisbonPTA.org
3. Make a monetary or grocery gift card donation. This will be used to purchase any items not donated and the perishables. Each full basket with a gift card is about $50 each this year.
You can donate through Memberhub. https://lisbonpta.memberhub.com/store
This is a great way for our students to give back and to help our community. This event is the most attended PTA event is open to our entire community to attend. Resources and information to help discuss this issue with your children will be posted to our Facebook page as well as books are available in our LES library for check out. Any family in need or for resources available contact Mrs. Anoff.
Together we can provide at minimum 200 families a wonderful Thanksgiving
200+ boxes of stuffing * 400+ cans of green beans (15 oz) * 400+ cans of corn (15 oz) * 400+ packets of gravy 200+ boxed pancake mix * 200+ cans of cranberry sauce * 200+ boxes cornbread mix * 100+ $25 Food Lion Card 100+ boxes mashed potatoes
Our Partners - The 4 County Lions Club provides turkey, potatoes, milk, eggs, and butter for 100 food pantry baskets.
Gifts of Gratitude is Open!
A PTA Sponsored Staff Gifts Program
https://app.giftcrowd.com/app/join-event/Ow4L7XPgb9
The super easy and totally awesome Gifts of Gratitude is returning to Lisbon Elementary!
During this very busy time of year, please consider this convenient and completely voluntary program as an easy way to express your gratitude during the holiday season to the dedicated staff members who interact with your children every day.
Gift Crowd, an online user-friendly platform, is free to gift-buyers and gift-receivers, so every dollar contributed will go directly to the recipient! The funds collected for each staff member allows that recipient to choose how to redeem the collected amount into one or more of the many brands partnered with Gift Crowd. Instead of many people giving $5 gift cards, for example, the staff member can choose to get one gift card with the group amount.
Show your gratitude for our amazing staff - Now through December 22nd (9am):
