Puketapu School Newsletter
Week 10, Term 2, 2019
Empower All People to be Healthy, Lifelong Learners
Kia kaha - do your best * Kia māia - be courageous * Kia manawanui - have a heart
Parent Portal and Reporting
Kia ora koutou,
Today we are delighted to be able to launch our new reporting system, LINC-ED. We are excited to share this with you and involve you in your child’s learning journey.
At Puketapu School our aim has been to implement a robust system that allows teachers, parents, and students to access learning in an online environment that is secure, easy, and effective.
LINC-ED allows teachers to share learning anytime, anywhere and this can be viewed on any device. We are excited about the potential that the software offers. The report is designed to build year on year so that over time you will have access to comments, assessments, images, video and helpful resources all in one place.
What you would expect to see:
Reading, Writing and Maths (Number & Algebra) Goals (what they are working on and what they have achieved)
Learning Comments (First half of Year) and School Values Comment (Kia Kaha - Do your best, Kia Māia - Be courageous, Kia Manawanui - Have a heart)
In the future we want to use this platform to:
Share Student Learning that your child has selected to share with you
Communicate through Team Newsletters & Notices
Have Parents share learning that has happened at home
How do I access my child’s LINC-ED page?
LINC-ED can be used on your mobile device.
The following article gives you instructions on how to do this. Install the LINC-ED app
LINC-ED can be used on your computer.
Step 1
Visit https://puketapu.linc-ed.com/
LINC-ED is supported on all modern browsers, for example, Google Chrome or Safari.
Step 2
Click the Lost your Password button.
Step 3
Enter the email address you have given the school to send you communication. Click Get New Password.
Step 4
An email will be sent to you containing a link for you to click on. (This email address is the one that you have given to the office.) The link will take you to a page where you will see your new password.
If you choose to, you can delete the automatically generated password and enter your own strong, secure password then click Reset Password.
Step 5
Enjoy reading, viewing and listening to your child’s learning. Become part of the conversation by writing a comment or adding a 'Like' to the post or adding to the Parent Voice page.

SPRING into Maths!
Could you be one of our whanau to be trained in taking a group of students for a SPRING maths program?
You do not have to be a whizz at maths but you do need a kind heart for our tamariki.
SPRING stands for:
Start counting,
Patterns,
Reinforcing strategy,
Identifying numbers,
Number facts,
Game
SPRING is intended to help move students from one level of maths to another by consolidating the skills they need.
The SPRING programme is half an hour a day, 4 days a week, for 5 weeks only (then we can start another group of students if you are available for more).
Mrs Paterson will do the planning and training for anyone who is available to help with SPRING in our school, so if you are interested, please email Mrs Paterson spaterson@puketapu.school.nz
We plan to train people in the first week of term 3.
