ALICE Drill Information
Springfield Public Schools has annual safety training requirements, including what do for a dangerous intruder on campus. The way we train incorporates nationally recognized best practices. The training is called alert, lockdown, inform, counter, and evacuate (ALICE).
The ALICE method is the response protocol endorsed by many law enforcement agencies, including our local department. ALICE empowers individuals to use their best judgement by providing more options in the event of an emergency situation.
Springfield Public Schools has thoughtfully approached the overall implementation of ALICE practices. All staff go through the response procedures. Now it’s time to share ALICE with our students. Our team of administrators has reviewed and prepared age-appropriate curriculum to introduce or reteach the concepts of ALICE to our students. We will begin to share the strategies with students at our school in May.

Safety of students and staff is always importance to Springfield Public Schools.

Volunteers
We are able to start welcoming volunteers back into our buildings. To do this you will need to sign up online, pass a background check, and be fully vaccinated. You can find the link on the district website under "district forms".
Please note this is just for volunteers for classrooms. You will need to prearrange your project with the classroom teacher. There are still no visitors allowed in the building at this time.
If you would like more information on volunteering please ask your child's teacher if they need a volunteer.
