Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful December Break and were able to spend time with your families and friends. I am sure some of you are also happy that the break is ending and the students are returning to school tomorrow, Tuesday, January 2nd!

Resolve to Attend
For many, the new year often comes with new resolutions. All of the Monomoy schools are committed to improving student attendance rates and need your help in having students come to school consistently and on time.
The Dept. of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) considers absence rates of 10% or more to be CHRONICALLY absent. Research shows us that chronic absenteeism and chronic tardiness have long-lasting negative impacts on student learning. As of 12/22/23, 29% of CES students had missed at least five days (one school week) of instruction. Please help us in our efforts to keep students in school and learning. Thank you in advance for your support!
Social Emotional Learning
The Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) framework is utilized across every classroom, grade level, and area. As we enter the new calendar year, the CASEL focus areas of "Self-Management" and "Self-Awareness" are frequently revisited. - Thank you to MRHS Choir for coming to sing carols in our school on Friday, December 22nd.

- Thank you to the many families and community members who dropped off sweet treats the week before break. Our staff truly enjoyed and appreciate the many kind gifts bestowed upon us!
Mobile Crisis
MCI provides short-term service that is a therapeutic response to youth and family/caregivers experiencing a behavioral health crisis. MCI evaluates the situation, identifies the challenges, involved, assesses the needs, and begins to treat and stabilize the situation, reducing the immediate risk of danger to the youth or to others. MCI then provides up to 7-days of intervention and services post the initial encounter. Learn more about Bay Cove Mobile Crisis HERE.

Winter Programming Schedules:
WIC Program
WIC is a nutrition program that provides nutrition and health care education, healthy food, and other services free of charge to Massachusetts families who qualify. WIC is for all kinds of families: married and single parents, working or not working. If you are a father, mother, grandparent, foster parent, or legal guardian of a child under the age of five, you can apply for WIC for your child.

Volunteer @ MRSD
