Week 22 (Jan.30 - feb.3)
¡Queridas familias de Pre-K! Can you believe we are almost 100 days in Pre-K? Read below to see how we will be celebrating!
Weekly updates:
Colder Weather Reminder: It’s chilly out there and we want to keep our kiddos warm and safe♥ Please send your child with a labeled jacket or sweater. PreK has recess at 9am and it is usually still pretty cold at this time. Our kiddos need the opportunity to spend time outdoors during the day and we want to make sure they are warm and comfortable while having fun!
Hibernation Theme Fun: We will be learning all about animals that hibernate. Please send a teddy bear/stuffed animal bear to school on Monday, January 23rd. It will stay in school all week; we will be doing fun math and literacy activities with them. If you have any other hibernating stuffed animals or happen to have any big cardboard boxes to turn into caves, feel free to send them as well!
Family Learning Night: We will have our campus wide Family Learning Night on Wednesday February 1st from 5:00-6:30 pm. This night will be filled with various math and science activities, as well as our Science Fair Project showcase. We hope you can come!
100th Day of School: We will celebrate our 100th day of school on Tuesday, January 31st.
We have planned a fun day where the children will experience 100 through many different activities. To help us visualize what 100 objects look like, we are asking that each child decorate a plain t-shirt with 100 items on it. If we have cold weather, we ask that all children wear a long sleeved shirt under their t-shirt so they are more comfortable. Some ideas to use as decorations are stickers, googly eyes, fabric paint, cotton balls, buttons, pom-poms, safety pins, stamps, etc. The lighter weight the item, the easier it is to glue, stick, or attach 100 things to the shirt. We will send more information as we get closer to the date.
Tuesday, February 14th: We will have a 90 minute celebration on this day. Feel free to bring sweets & cards. We hope to be all inclusive and that each child brings something to share. Ex: Valentines Day cards, home-made cards, small bags, treats, candies, etc. More information to come <3

We enjoyed everyone’s participation in our Character Day parade. We love to see their smiling faces :)
Weekly updates:
Día de Muertos: Celebrated Nov. 1st and 2nd: Every school year, as part of our social studies guidelines, we learn about culturally diverse traditions and why we celebrate events and people. In the month of November, we celebrate the Day of the Dead, a Mexican holiday. It has become a tradition for ALL Pre-K4 classes at Becker to create our own Altar de Muertos♥Teachers will be sending a letter explaining the meaning of this celebration, its elements, and it also includes a list of items we would like your support in collecting them for the creation of our altar.
We would love your support with sending items the following items, which we still need for our altar:
Needed items for next week, Oct. 31st:
-Photographs of deceased loved ones (pets, family, friends), please make sure to label your photograph on the back with your child's name and your beloved one's name as well.
-Pan de muerto: We would like our students to taste pan de muerto as a snack at 2pm on Nov. 2nd, some panaderías/places where families can get it are: HEB, Casa María, Mi Tradición, La Reyna Bakery.
-Marigolds: The iconic flower of the Day of the Dead. We would appreciate very much any donations of marigold flowers; you can find them at HEB.
Our goal is that everyone brings a photo of someone dear to them who passed away and that we have all our altar elements (list attached on the letter) next week.
Thank you for helping us make this beautiful celebration possible♥ Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

We will be sending a calavera template in your child’s backpack this week with detailed instructions. Week 3 Updates: 9/2
Happy Friday Pre-K4 Families!
Happy September! As we start a new month together we would like to share some reminders and updates that pertain to Pre-K.
Updates/Reminders:
Potty Training: We highly encourage all our families to support potty training at home as we foster independence on our Pre-K 4 kiddos. We would appreciate talking with your child about expressing their physical needs at school and practicing toileting procedures such as wiping independently, pulling underwear and clothes down and getting them back up by themselves, getting on and off the potty, and washing and drying hands after bathroom use. Please make sure your child’s teacher has one or two changes of clothes including: underwear, clothing, socks, shoes.
Labels: Please continue labeling snacks, lunch, personal items, etc.
Rainy Day Dismissal: All classes will dismiss students from the main front doors. We will not use the Pre-K exit during rainy days.
Back-To-School Night: will be held Tuesday September 20th, time to be determined.
Content we are getting into next week:
ELA: Learning parts of a book, answering comprehension questions about stories.
SLA: Learning and reviewing colors, songs, and rhymes. Following simple 2-3 step directions and school procedures in Spanish.
Science: Describing/observing common objects.
Math: Counting from 1-10, basic shapes, attributes/sorting.
Thanks again for your continued support.
Pre-K Conference/Planning time is at 12:15-1:00pm.
Sending love and light to you all,
