Pella Community Memory Database
December 2020 - Volume 2, Issue 12 -- pellacmd.com
Happy Holidays from the Pella Community Memory Database Project!
Despite this, we've found that people have come together to support one another and have been exceptionally patient in the wake of many changes. Nowhere is this more apparent than the Pella Community Memory Database, where I relied on everyone's patience as we re-tooled and re-thought our operations first when they library was closed and then, later, when were were only open for curbside pickup.
Against all odds, the PCMD Project is still on-track to complete scanning of between 5000 and 5500 documents by September of 2021. We've relied heavily on many staff members and some very dedicated volunteers to get the job done. If you would like to contribute in some manner but haven't been able to do so, never fear! Within the next couple of months, expect an e-mail about a new, streamlined volunteer program that can be done from home! We will get it set up and send an e-mail notification when it is ready to go.
All this is the long way of saying, thank you for your support. From all of us here at the Pella Public Library and from those of us on the Pella Community Memory Database Project, we appreciate you. Here's to a great 2021.

Witzenberg and Lautenbach - Toom families become the newest collections!
The Lautenbach-Toom Family Collection contains much information on the well known Lautenbach family, as well as the Toom Family. John and Charles Lautenbach were brothers who became architects, and between them designed both Tulip Toren towers as well as the famous Lautenbach house on West Washington Street in Pella (formerly US Highway 163). These files have been shared with the library by Will Verhoef.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to these projects!
