BOYS SOCCER
I have been teaching and coaching here at EHTHS the past 18 years. Our program is a perennial power in the Cape Atlantic League. We recently won the CAL Championship and hope to bring home a Sectional Title this year. Our Assistant Coaches, Dennis Heenan and Phil Maturi are both alumni of EHTHS. Passion, Purpose, Pride
Assistant Boys Soccer Coach
2007-present
This is my 16th year coaching alongside Pete Lambert, but I have been a part of this soccer program since 1992. As a goalie, I played for Mike Mousaw with my defender, Coach Phil Maturi, and we were the first boys soccer program to make it to the South Jersey Finals and win a division title. I am very proud to be a part of the coaching staff that was brought back to glory under Pete Lambert and considered a perennial power in South Jersey.
ASSISTANT COACH PHILIP MATURI
Coach Maturi boasts an impressive coaching tenure of seven years, serving as both the boys' freshmen and assistant varsity coach. Before this, he held the same role within the girls' program for three years. His dedication to EHTHS spans 16 years as a teacher, and he takes great pride in being an alumnus of the high school, as well as a former member of the boys' soccer program.
During his playing days, Coach Maturi was known for his prowess as a robust defender. He played alongside one of the school's legendary goalkeepers, Mr. Dennis B. Heenan. Together, they led the school to its inaugural sectional final appearance, marking a significant achievement. Coach Maturi had the privilege of being mentored by Coach Mousaw, the second most successful coach in school history.
In addition to his coaching and playing accolades, Coach Maturi earned the Golden Boot in the 2019 Alumni Game by scoring two goals, including the game-winning goal, despite playing as a defender. Today, Coach Maturi is an integral part of Coach Lambert's coaching staff. Coach Lambert holds the distinction of being the most successful coach in the school's history, and together, they uphold the program's core values by imparting lessons of Passion, Purpose, and Pride to their players.
