A Note from Mr. Semmler
1) Parents and Students,
Many students have noticed that Arena Scheduling has shown up in Skyward. This does not mean you are going to summer school. This opens for all students to allow a student to take a class for initial credit over the summer. Below are flyers from the High School that share more information about initial credit classes this summer.
All students and parents will be notified by the counselors if a student is attending summer school for not successfully completing a class.
2) Parents and Students,
As we end the 2023-2024 school year, I would like to address the national epidemic and
dangerous issue of students using e-cigarettes also known as “vapes” on and off
campus.
My goal as your campus principal is to be an active partner in your student’s
education, social/emotional behaviors, and character, but especially in their decisions
to stay drug and tobacco-free. However, I need support from my staff, students, and
families to make this happen.
Please see the memo below regarding vaping.
3) Parents and Students
As part of the operational audit, Gibson Consulting will be conducting a survey beginning May 3, 2023, with parents of students receiving special education services. Please look for this communication and we look forward to your participation.
4) Parents and Students
Are you interested to know about STAAR score? Here is the link to the district page which give more information regarding the release of STAAR score. Also, STAAR is not being used as an exemption criteria this year for finals. We are using the Benchmark or MAP test this year. If a student earns Masters level on the Benchmark or MAP test then they will earn an exemption.
Final Exam Information
Students and Parents,
The following 4 documents provide the final exam schedule, details on how to qualify for an exam exemption, how to enter an exemption and how to alter an exemption. If you have any questions please contact your grade level Assistant Principal.
Fort Bend Regional council is pleased to announce that registration is now open for their FREE Summer Explosion Camp. This jam jacked day camp will give your student something FUNcational to do for a week but it is on a first come, first served basis.
PBIS Donations
PBIS Expectations & Rewards - PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports. One large piece is explaining expectations upfront. Another piece is rewarding students when we see those focused on positive behaviors. 3 campus-wide expectations posters (CLICK HERE) are placed throughout the campus. Teachers will take time during the first day or two to explain these rules in detail and help students understand what they look like. Our campus is also implementing new software (Classcraft) to encourage students to earn rewards and use them in many different ways. Here is a short video on how Classcraft works: https://youtu.be/M2uqd9ZOMaw. Please have your child download the app on their device and log into Classlink on the LCISD webpage (at the top) to start to explore what this is all about. They do NOT need a phone to do this. It can be done on a laptop or computer.
Parents if you are interested in donating to the PBIS school store the following list is a great start. We accept all donations both monetary and items.
We are excited to announce that H-E-B is a proud sponsor of the PBIS Store at Leaman.
If your company would like to sponsor the store, please contact Mr. Kracker, Mr. Gilmore or Ms. Session for more information.
