Chester Elementary School
September 26, 2022. A Year of Significance!
CES Happenings
Parent Conferences
Parent/teacher conference are coming up the week of October 3 through October 7. I would like to encourage you to attend. Each teacher should have, or will be soon, sending out an appointment time for you. We're far enough into the school year at this point in time that there is plenty to discuss. The more you know the better we can partner with you.School Safety
I am always looking for ways to make our campus more safe. Do you have some input for me in this area? Questions? I'd appreciate a chance to talk with you. I am holding monthly safety meetings with my staff beginning in October and would like to pass along any input you might have.
Ultra Fun Run Jog-A-Thon
Our jog-a-thon event concluded today and the final results are in: CES earned an unbelievable $13,398.70. This is by far the most successful fundraising event ever for our school and we can't thank you enough for your incredible support.
Sincerely,
Scott Cory
Principal

Spotlight: Carlena Braun
Carlena Braun is the newest member of the Chester Elementary School team. Mrs. Braun, a graduate of Chico State, became a teacher because she has always loved working with children. In the classroom, Mrs. Braun says that every day is different, fun, and she has the opportunity to make a difference in children’s lives.
Mrs. Braun is excited to join the CES team because the students and staff feel like family. A native of Chester, Mrs. Braun returned to the area in 2021 and is excited to rejoin the Mountain Kid community. She is thrilled to be teaching fourth grade because she loves state history.
Mrs. Braun enjoys going to the lake and hiking in her free time. She loves spaghetti...anything with marinara is her guilty pleasure and she hopes to visit Italy someday to enjoy the delicious food. Mrs. Braun loves the book The Very Hungry Caterpillar, the color red, and giraffes.
Spotlight: Susan Tantardino
Mrs. Tantardino became a teacher because she wanted to help students who struggled. She also loves students! Mrs. Tantardino finds joy in the confidence that her students gain when they recognize their own progress and growth.
Mrs. Tantardino has taught kindergarten through twelfth grade, she is excited to be in sixth grade. She says that sixth graders are sweet and kind; they also love jokes and appreciate her goofiness. In her class, Mrs. Tantardino loves sharing the books Where the Red Fern Grows and Spooky Hour with her students.
When Mrs. Tantardino is away from CES, she loves to spend time with her family and her beast, Cooper. She also enjoys reading, swimming, and boating. Mrs. Tantardino dreams of tacos and travelling to Turks and Caicos Islands where she can savor the beautiful beaches and water. Mrs. Tantardino also has the goal of taking pictures that she is actually in during the upcoming school year.
