Important End-of-Semester Information:
Student Grades
High school end-of-semester testing is scheduled from for next week: Dec. 18-22. Students will take a semester exam that assesses their learning throughout the whole semester. Students are highly encouraged to review all studied material. Let’s finish this semester strong!!!
A huge shout-out to our E-TECH students who successfully completed their fall semester courses. In all, our freshman cohort successfully completed 71 college courses; our sophomore class completed 117; our seniors completed 147, and our juniors completed a whopping 261!!! 94% of the courses taken received credit! Great job, E-TECH!
Ensure that you check in PowerSchool to view student grades. You will receive a copy of the report card in January. As you review your student's performance for the first half of the academic year, consider having a good conversation with your child. In your discussion include the following questions:
- Are you satisfied with your academic performance?
- Did you complete all the work that was assigned to you?
- Have you taken advantage of the help offered by your teachers such as tutorials, opportunities to make up work, and opportunities to retake tests?
- Did you check eCampus/BrightSpace on a daily basis for college class information?
- If you are not satisfied, what do you plan to do differently this semester?
Attendance & Attendance for Credit Restoration
If your scholar has missed five or more days in any particular class, he/she must complete Attendance for Credit Restoration for each of those classes. You may view attendance records in PowerSchool. Please see the flyer below in this newsletter for further information.

E-TECH Celebrations
For the third year in a row, the E-TECH M.A.P.S. classes implemented a canned food drive for The Salvation Army. By December 1st, the students had collected more than 300 canned goods, which will provide food for over 1600 people!
The Hillcrest Cross Country team got to take a picture with the fastest woman in the world! Sha’Carri Richardson returned home for the ceremonial naming of the track field that helped shape her formative years. The Sha’Carri Richardson Track at John Kincaide Stadium is located near David W. Carter High School, where Richardson once competed as a Dallas ISD student athlete. It serves as a symbolic tribute to her journey and her ties to the Dallas community, while also inspiring those who step on the same field she once did.
In November, the E-TECH M.A.P.S. classes hosted a Friendsgiving event where students brought foods from various cultures and presented information to their peers about those cultures.
Cross Country athletes, most of whom are in the E-TECH program, got to spread some Christmas cheer to staff and students at Hillcrest, and they brightened the day of the students at Dealey Montessori Academy as well!
E-TECH senior, David Gormley, won his 100th career wrestling match the first weekend in December!
Workplace Learning
A HUGE thank you goes out to the anonymous donor who sent Cameron Herndon, Joshua Medina, and Osbaldo Hernandez with Mr. Huntington to a Dallas Mavs game. They had a great time!
On December 1st, E-TECH 10th graders took a tour of Texas Women's University.
E-TECH Class of 2021 graduate, Iffah Karim, did a great job speaking at the recent DISD Industry Partners Workshop. She even brought along two other E-TECH grads, Scarlett and Cecilia!
