Important Deadlines
Regular Academic Session Courses (08/21/2023 - 12/06/2023):
- 11/10/2023: No classes in observance of Veteran's Day.
- 11/19/2023: Last day for students to submit a Late Change Petition to their college.
- 11/23/2023: Thanksgiving recess begins today with no classes until Monday, 11/27/23.
Seven Week Second Session Courses (10/12/2023 - 12/06/2023):
- 11/10/2023: Instructor's and dean's signatures are required on all Change of Schedule forms to ADD or CHANGE classes.
- 11/15/2023: Last day to file for Grade Replacement Opportunity (GRO). Last day for students to withdraw from a class online through UAccess.
- 11/16/2023: Instructor and dean's signatures required on a Late Change Petition in order to withdraw from class.
- 11/22/2023: Last day for students to submit a Late Change Petition to their college.
- 11/23/2023: Thanksgiving recess begins today with no classes until Monday, 11/27/23.

Welcome to Career Corner, November 2023 Edition
ARE YOU CONSIDERING APPLYING TO GRADUATE SCHOOL?
Please consider taking this course: PSY 396C Preparation for Graduate Programs in the Field of Psychology (and related fields). It is offered IN-PERSON in Spring 2024, and registration begins soon! This course is recommended for Juniors and above who are considering applying to graduate school, or are curious about the process.
Course Learning Outcomes:
- Learn about the different fields of post-undergraduate study within and related to Psychology.
- Understand the general graduate school application steps and program-specific admission procedures, requirements, and steps.
- Describe the 3 sections of the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) and ways to prepare for the exam.
- Demonstrate understanding of Personal Statement format, content, structure, grammar, and flow.
- Demonstrate understanding of Resume/CV format, structure, and style for graduate school.
- Understand degree-specific funding options and the necessary resources to apply for additional funds.
- Learn the different types of graduate school interview processes and gain tips and how to prepare for them.
- You will complete the course with a firm grasp of your chosen graduate school field and the requirements to get in.
Course Exercises & Deliverables:
- In-depth research exercises evaluating one's own preparation, goals & interests in a specific graduate program to see if they align.
- Preliminary list of top-5 graduate programs you are interested in applying to.
- Draft introductory paragraph or full personal statement draft.
- Draft resume/C.V.
- Identification of 3 possible candidates to write letters of recommendation.
- In-depth research of your top five graduate programs within your chosen field.
- Faculty member interview in area of interest.
- Graduate student interview in area of interest.
- Practitioner member interview in area of interest.

Job Shadow Program (JSP) Student Session

Description: Student Engagement & Career Development will be facilitating job-shadow opportunities in collaboration with the College of Science for students with alumni and industry professionals. We would be thrilled to have you participate in a ONE-DAY shadow for up to 8 hours with an alumni or industry professional during the winter session, December 15th to January 5th.

- Research Methods Class (1st session, Spring 2024, Online, PSY 290A course completion required for this position)
As a preceptor, you will have the chance to:
- Assist your peers in their learning journey and/or lead and assist other preceptors.
- Enhance your knowledge in the field of Psychology and Research Methods.
- Develop valuable skills in communication, leadership, and teamwork.
- Earn up to 3 PSY Upper Elective Credits.
- Obtain an "Engaged Learning Experience" notation on your UA transcript.
