PUMPKIN PATCH
We are building a pumpkin patch and we need your help! If you want to participate please have your kids decorate (not carve) any type of pumpkin (big or small) and place it on the white rocks on your way into school. Don't forget to put your name and grade on the bottom as there will be a prize for best pumpkin. The winner will be announced at the end of October alongside our trunk or treat class winners!
Weekly Update
Hello Foster's Finest,
What a great week it has been! Our Kindness Club began this week. A special shout out and thank you to Mrs. McGrath and Mrs. Bessoud for organizing this club. The students first project was to make cards for the residents of the Harbor House Nursing home. I am certain that the residents were thankful for this act of kindness.
I also had the pleasure of spending some time in Mrs. Martin's classroom learning about weather. Mrs. Martin gave me a chance to jump in and participate in the teaching of the lesson. My heart is and always will be in the classroom, so the few moments I was there participating in the lesson, it was a very enjoyable part of my last week. Weather is one of my favorite units to teach. What a great group of students! Clearly Foster's Finest.
I am planning on two meetings to see what ideas we can generate to plan for the closure of the playground while the temporary playground is being constructed in December and early January. I have had two parent generated ideas that will need some support to accomplish. I believe in seeking input from the school's stakeholders; additionally, if there is an idea that I have not thought of and we have the ability to implement, I will implement it. Some of the best ideas do not come in isolation, so stakeholder input is very helpful. The first meeting will be on Friday, October 21 at 9:00 AM. The second meeting will be on Wednesday, October 26 at 1 PM.
Finally, I want to remind families that I am hosting a Coffee with the Principal on Monday morning at 9:00 am in the Presentation Room. Please sign up before Monday morning, so I know how much coffee I will need. Please sign-up here.
Have a great weekend!
Mr. Scheufele

Foster Building Update
This link (Building Project Information) will bring you to the information sheets, the dates of the upcoming Open House sessions, and the Foster Tours. Please share this information with family and friends who reside in Hingham. This is a great opportunity for the public to learn more about the project and provide them with the information needed to make informed decisions.
Preschool Screenings
Under federal and state special education regulations, Hingham Public Schools (HPS) has a responsibility to locate, identify, refer, evaluate and, if eligible, provide a free, appropriate, public education to students with disabilities who reside in the town of Hingham. For this purpose, we offer screenings twice per year, in November and February. Our first screening of the 2022-2023 school year will take place on Thursday, November 3rd at East Elementary School. If you would like your child screened, please call Darcy Greene, Administrative Assistant at 781-741-1570, x4967 or email dgreene@hinghamschools.org. If you have any questions or concerns, please email Early Childhood Coordinator Elizabeth Costanza, at ecostanza@hinghamschools.org.
