Message from the Principal
Greetings Findley Community,
I hope this message finds you healthy and enjoying this beautiful, crisp, sunshine while it lasts. We have been very busy here at school teaching and learning. This month, students had opportunities to learn about the work and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Please take a few minutes to view our January Assembly (linked below) to hear from some of our Dragons on what they're learned about Dr. King's message.
Our 2021-2022 School Learning Plan has been finalized and is on our website for you to view. As a school community, we are committed to providing inclusive learning opportunities for all our Findley Dragons that centers their individual strengths and identities. Our School Learning Plan highlights our plans for doing so.
Finally, we have appreciated our families so much this month. Your cooperation and support with our COVID protocols has kept our quarantines to a minimum. It has helped keep us all here at school for in-person learning. That said, I have had a some questions about transitioning to temporary remote learning as a school. BSD monitors school attendance daily, and decisions are made on a school-by-school basis. Findley has not yet come close to the threshold of staff and student absences for us to consider transitioning to remote learning. This is in large part to our community's diligence in following safety protocols. We appreciate you!
Have a wonderful weekend~
Sherry Marsh, Ed.D.
Immunization Exclusion Day. - February 16
Exclusion Day for this school year is Wednesday, February 16, for children who are not up-to-date on their vaccines. Students can see their health care providers, go to a school-based health center or contact the Washington County Health Department to find other vaccination locations.
While recommended, BSD doesn’t require students to be vaccinated for COVID-19. Students won’t be excluded on February 16 if they haven't received a COVID-19 vaccination.
More information, including a full list of required immunizations for the 2022-23 school year, can be found on the School Nursing and Student Health webpage.
OHSU COVID TESTING
Reminder - busses in front of the building - The Driveway is closed
Please use the Thompson St. parking lot for drop off and pickup. This will enable the busses to get back onto the road quickly and on to their next destination.
Help us celebrate our amazing counselor, Mrs. Gotfried!
Parent Partnership Returns
Greetings Findley Families,
Thank you for your feedback to our survey on possible topics for our Parent Partnership Series. After careful consideration on how best to share information, respecting families' schedules, and our continuing navigation of Covid protocols we've decided to launch PP 3.0!
Our SEL Team will be creating brief videos that we'll share in the monthly newsletter on the topics that you requested. We will, as always, include our contact information and any links to additional resources about the topic. We hope this format will provide you with useful information and an opportunity to reach out if you need more resources or have questions.
We really look forward to a time when we can all meet in person to connect as a community but until then, we hope these videos will be useful and timely. If you think of any other subjects you'd like us to cover please send an email - we want to be sure we're presenting relevant topics.
This week Mrs. Hargrave will cover Social Emotional Learning and the Zones of Regulation. If. you would like to meet with Mrs. Hargrave or you'd like more information about this topic please email her. susan_hargrave@beaverton.k12.or.us
