January was a very busy month in all of our BICO Programs. As you will see below, students in all of our programs engaged in activities that made learning fun and provided an experience to apply skills to real life. I feel so lucky every day to be able to visit classrooms, talk to students and participate in their learning.

I have scheduled two virtual coffee hours for families on March 1, 2023. The purpose of these meetings is to provide and opportunity for all families to share their experience and provide feedback that will help BICO to grow. If you are not able to attend either of these sessions, you can always reach out by phone or email. I hope to see you there.

The BICO Mansfield students had fun playing with our new sensory panels! These boards are interchangeable, and include fun sights, sounds and textures. As you can see they have been a big hit. We love to learn through sensory play!

SEAP Wood went on a walking trip to enjoy their favorite McDonalds beverages after earning their goal of increasing their independence on academic tasks!! We are so proud of them.

Some of TEAP's joyous moments in January - Students were able to spend some time outside in the snow. The students have also been working hard to learn new skills in gym class with Coach Gann. Lots of smiles all around.

Miss Ludwig's class has had a blast enjoying their movement breaks in the snow creating snowmen and snow angels!

In Ms. M's class at TEAP Wrentham, the New Year brings new math games, rock walls, and fresh air whenever we can to keep our minds and bodies busy!

The students at TEAP are participating in the Kindness Challenge with the Jackson School. They have put together a kindness quilt for their first project and made Valentine's for Veterans. These are many of the Kindness projects that we are doing.

SLBP has had a great start to 2023! Students have been working hard in all areas and we always leave time for a bit of winter fun when it snows!!

TEP spent time creating unique arms/hands to represent who they are in honor of Martin Luther King Jr Day. We then created this bulletin board putting all of our hands together!

We had an egg drop science contest and then a STEM challenge building a froze fortress out of marshmallows.

Students had fun learning about Lunar New Year and using adaptive scissors to make Lunar New Year lanterns!

Mr. Morgan's students did a good job this week helping the younger students at the rink during Summit's weekly skate.

Learning Center students have partnered with the students in the TEAP program located in the JFK/AFM Complex in Blackstone. It's so nice to see our high school students reading to, completing fun activities and building relationships with our elementary students.

Summit had the grand opening of the school store in January. The STAP students have been working hard to get it up and running and were excited to officially have the ribbon cutting ceremony!

The STAP seniors had a mock trial, in which Bugs Bunny was on trial. The seniors were the attorneys and members of STAP were witnesses, the jury, and court marshals.

This month our students have enjoyed doing Cooking Group! We cook or bake something every week. We make pastries to sell at the Kool Kids Cafe!

Our students continue to work on their community skills, such as purchasing and community safety. The students recently voted on a classroom pet and decided on a fish. We went to PetSmart and purchased a classroom fish. The fish’s name is Trouble.

This month ATP community outings included grocery shopping, Walpole Library, and Walmart. In addition, students reported to their work- based learning job sites at locations such as Brigg’s Nursery in North Attleboro, St. Vincent’s de Paul in Plainville and Stoughton, and the BICO main office in Franklin. This month ATP went on a community outing to the Stonehill College Campus in Easton. Students had the opportunity to visit the college for lunch in the dining hall with Stonehill students. ATP will visit the school once a month through April.
