The PTO will be organizing a fall clean up of the school grounds. This will include picking up leaves, planting new flowers, collecting trash, and ensuring Squantum School looks beautiful. Clean up will be Wednesday October 4th 1:00-2:30. All students and families are encouraged to join! Thank you in advance!

Students will be receiving copies of Student Emergency Contact Cards on Tuesday, October 2nd.

We are asking that you verify or complete the information on both sides of the form as it will be used by the school nurse and main office at the school. Please return the form to your child's teacher by Friday, October 6th.

Your prompt return of this information will help us to accurately update our database and more importantly help us to reach you or your family in the event of an emergency.

Check out the QPS exhibit at the QArts Gallery showcasing 20 mural size canvases representing the Quincy Public Schools.

This is the first of a 3 year "Celebrate Quincy" art project connected to the upcoming 400th anniversary of Quincy's founding in 2025. The exhibit runs until October 8th with gallery hours on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. with additional pop up hours on Thursday and Friday based on volunteers.

The QArts gallery is located at 1229 Hancock Street, Quincy, MA (across from Quincy College)

Squantum School is scheduled for picture day on Thursday, October 5th. Students will have the opportunity to take individual photos and class photos. Please see below for ordering and pre-pay options. Online ordering is recommended and preferred if possible. Pictures will be taken in the outdoor classroom, weather permitting.

How to pre-order sibling packages online: When prompted to enter your child's name you will enter your children's first names in the first name field and the last name in the last name field.

Just a friendly reminder to not to block neighbors driveways during drop off and pick up! Also please do not park on the corner of Mayflower and Huckins as it makes it extremely difficult for the school busses to turn. Thank you in advance for your help with this!

At last week's School Committee Meeting, the 2023-2024 School Year calendar was reviewed in light of scheduling of the 2024 Massachusetts Presidential Primary Election Day on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. March 5 will now be a NO SCHOOL day as most school buildings are now polling sites.

The updated calendar is attached, please note the following:

• The scheduled last day of school for students moved to Tuesday, June 18 (if no snow days).

Did you or a family member go to Squantum School? Our architects for the new building project are looking for your feedback on your favorite Squantum School memories. Let us know if you would like to complete a card for us to share with the architect firm. Please email stephensylvia@quincypublicschools.com and we will send a card home with your child. Throughout the school year, Quincy Public Schools (QPS) staff may take photos and/or videos of students, faculty, and staff in the school buildings, on school grounds, or participating in school activities at other sites. These images and/or videos may be used in QPS communications materials and media, including, but not limited to, the QPS website (district and school pages), digital newsletters, brochures, social media, or mass media outlets.

All Quincy Public Schools utilize the ASPEN website. This is where contact information is stored, along with access to student grades at report card trimesters.

Contact sheets will be sent home for updates early in the school year as a way for you to make any changes relative to general contact information, as well as emergency contacts in the event you are unable to be reached or unable to pick up your child from school.

If your child is going to be absent please email dawnflibotte@quincypublicschools.com, your child's teacher, or call the main office at 617-984-8706 by 8:30. Safety is our top priority, so we will call home if we do not hear from you.

In order for an absence to be considered excused, a written note must accompany the student the first day back in class. The note should include the date returning, child’s name, date absent, and the reason for the absence. Any absence for which the school does not receive appropriate notification will be unexcused.

Students are given the opportunity to receive a school breakfast, lunch, and/or milk, as part of their daily routine.

Lunch and breakfast will be free for ALL students again this year. QPS strongly encourages parents/guardians to continue to complete the free and reduced lunch application this year in order to receive other benefits from the state, including P-EBT benefits. Menus and applications can be found on the QPS Food Service website.

Breakfast is available for all students beginning at 8:00 am. Any interested student may buzz in through the main door and walk down to the cafeteria. Breakfast is also available in the classrooms once students have entered the building. Please remind your child to let their homeroom teacher know if they need breakfast.

Lunch will be served in the cafeteria during your child’s assigned class time. Lunch will continue to be offered to students on early release days. This time will be built into classroom schedules.

Throughout the day teachers incorporate digital practice in both ELA and Math. These platforms allow students to practice skills at individual lessons. Students are encouraged to continue practicing at home, if they are interested. Students can access these using their Clever log in information. Please see below for some popular websites.
