Basketball Games - Parent Supervision Needed
Our basketball teams will play their first home games this week. If your students want to attend games, please make sure you are with them and they are supervised. Each parent may be responsible for no more than 4 students, and the expectation is for the parents to remain at the game with the students. We love to see a packed gym, and we want everyone to be safe.
The PTA is looking for volunteers to help!
Valentine's Day - Outside Food Reminder
Dear Parents or Guardians,
As we approach Valentine’s Day, it is important to ensure that all homemade candy, desserts, baked goods, or other edible items are not to be sold or distributed during school hours, and that appropriate store-bought items are delivered to the administration. Please know that taking this measure will help us maintain a safe environment for all students with allergies, etc. You can help us protect your student(s) by requesting that they not eat anything given to them by another person, anything that they have not brought from your home or anything not in its original sealed package.
Thank you for your continued partnership in keeping all of our students safe at school!
Reminder for Student Absences
- We are in a time of year when students are becoming ill and missing school. These reminders should help you and the students notify the school about absences and get their work completed upon return.
- Student absences and excuse notes should be reported to the front office staff (Ms. Willis and/or Ms. Maples).
- Students can check in TEAMS for assignments and should also check with their teachers for their work.
- The school district policy states students should complete their work after returning to school by the end of the same number of days they missed. For example, if a student was absent on Monday and Tuesday (2 days), their work would be due no later than Thursday which is 2 days after they return to school.
Volunteers & Visitors - New Check In Procedure
There is a new check-in system in place for volunteers and school visitors. All visitors will need to bring their driver's licenses with them when they come into the school. The system requires all visitors to scan their licenses whenever they enter the school. The new system will require your license each time you come in to the school.

Meet Our Summit Counselor
Greetings, TRMS Community!
I would like to introduce myself as your School-Based Mental Health Therapist Nehemiah McClendon, M. ED, NCC, LAPC
I am here at your service to help your child with navigating the challenges of academic life while also addressing personal emotional needs can be overwhelming. I am returning for my second year here at TRMS and am thrilled to continue to do great and impactful work with our students. During my tenor at TRMS I have collaboratively worked with administration and teachers to provide individual, group and famly services for TRMS community.
As a therapist I Can Help:
🌟 Individualized Support: I recognize that every student is unique. With one-on-one sessions tailored to each student's personal experiences, allowing for a deep exploration of thoughts and feelings.
🌟 Anxiety and Stress Management: From exam jitters to social pressures, anxiety can take a toll on a student's well-being. I’m working to equip students with practical strategies to manage anxiety and stress effectively.
🌟 Depression Coping Skills: Depression can cast a shadow over even the brightest moments. Our therapist provides tools and techniques to help students regain a sense of control, build resilience, and find joy in their daily lives.
🌟 Emotional Awareness: Our therapist guides students in understanding their emotions, helping them to recognize triggers and respond to challenging situations in healthy ways.
🌟 Supportive Environment: Sometimes, all it takes is a listening ear. Therapy can create a judgment-free space where students can express themselves openly and honestly.
Mental health matters. I believe that seeking support is a sign of strength, and I’m here to help break down stigmas associated with mental health challenges. By providing an accessible platform for students to engage in conversations about their well-being, we aim to create a culture of acceptance, empathy, and understanding.
How to Get Started:
Speak to Your Child: Initiate a conversation with your child about their feelings and emotions. Let them know that our therapist is here to provide guidance and support.
Contact Us: Reach out to our school's counseling department to express your interest in connecting your child with our therapist. Our go to our website and go to our school based referral form https://summitcounseling.org/schoolbasedservices/. Confidentiality: Rest assured that all sessions are strictly confidential. Your child's privacy and well-being are our top priorities.
Let's Embrace Emotional Wellness Together!
At TRMS we believe that a strong emotional foundation is essential for academic success and personal growth. As your School-Based Mental Health Therapist I am ready to stand alongside our students, helping them navigate the challenges of life with courage and resilience.
If you have any questions, concerns, or simply want to learn more about this incredible initiative, please don't hesitate to reach out to our counseling department.
Here's to a future filled with emotional well-being, open conversations, and a supportive community!

Nehemiah McClendon, M.ED, NCC, LAPC
