CLEVELAND SCHOOL OF THE ARTS
WEEKLY NEWSLETTER FOR UPDATES & REMINDERS
Week of October 30, 2023
A note from the Head of School
Dear CSA Family and Friends,
Welcome to a new week at CSA. Thank you to all the families who attended the parent-teacher conferences last week. If you missed it is important that you reach out to your scholars(s) teachers for a phone conference. Students will receive their first quarter report cards this week. Along with their report cards will be your parent's access to the Schoology. Schoology allows you to keep track of your scholar's grades, assignments, and attendance. It is highly recommended that all families check their scholar's grade regularly and reach out to teachers with questions. Our staff directory is linked here.
Schoology parent access: It is highly encouraged that families use their parent access codes to review their scholar's classroom grades and performance. By using your Schoology parent access, you will be able to see your scholar's current grade, assignments completed, and assignments missed. This is a great tool for keeping up with your scholar's progress in class. Reach out to your scholar's teacher(s) if you have questions. Click to log in. Your scholar's teacher can provide the access code if you do not already have it. You need to have updated contact credentials in the Student Information System (SIS) to be able to be provided with your Schoology Parent account. Contact the school's main office to update your contact information.
HBCU College Presentation: Don't miss this opportunity to engage in discussion to learn more about HBCUs. Saturday, November 4 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm at John Hay High School
Digital art class update: Welcome Noah Sample to CSA. Mr. Sample will serve as CSA's digital arts teacher. Mr. Sample will begin work on Monday, October 30th.

CSA Family and Community Engagement Survey
November is National Family Engagement Month. National Parent Involvement Day also occurs this month on Thursday, November 16th. Over 40 years of research clearly indicate all scholars achieve at higher levels when schools and families support each other.
Research has shown that when schools and families are engaged in meaningful two-way communication and collaboration, scholars have:
- More positive attitudes toward school
- Higher grades and test scores, which equal higher achievement
- Better attendance
- More homework completed
- Higher graduation rates
- Greater enrollment in post-secondary educational opportunities
This month and always, the Cleveland Metropolitan School District is grateful to parents and caregivers for the important role they play in their children’s education.
