Thank you all for an amazing first week. We had so much fun meeting many of you, learning about you, and watching your excitement for the new school year! We loved seeing you participate in transition days and watching you at sporting events. Families, thank you for the communication, collaboration, and feedback regarding our processes. We are so glad to partner with you this school year. You should be so proud of your children. They demonstrated respect and kindness this week.

The drop-off & pick-up lines are working well and we appreciate so many students riding the buses. It definitely has helped to ease traffic concerns. We'll continue to monitor the door times and adjust as necessary.

As always, if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions please reach out. We're so grateful to be a part of your village. =) Have a WONDERFUL and SAFE Labor Day.

Sycamore Junior High offers many clubs and extracurricular activities for our students.

It is always best to give medications at home. There are situations your child needs medication during the school day (over-the-counter, inhaler, etc ) please have your doctor fill out the following medication form ( parent and physician signature required ). Please call 513-686-1763 to schedule a time to deliver medication to the School Nurse.

Are you someone who likes to sing and dance? Do you want to try something new at SJH? Sycamore Singing Company may be for you!

Sycamore Singing Company, or SSC, is an extracurricular show choir at the junior high led by Mr. Callahan & Mrs. Savage. Auditions are coming up soon!

In order to audition, you need to attend the Audition Clinic on Wednesday, September 7, from 3:00 - 4:45 PM in the junior high Choir Room. If you are unable to attend the clinic, email Mr. Callahan ASAP for more information.

All of the audition materials will be found on the Sycamore Singing Company Blackboard page. You can access it starting on Wednesday, September 7, by searching for “Callahan” in the Blackboard search bar. Sycamore Singing Company will be displayed as one of the classes.

If you’ve ever considered performing on stage or helping out backstage, join us at the fall play informational meeting on September 6th. The meeting will take place in the choir room (room 105) from 3:15-3:45.

At this meeting, you will receive all the information you need to either audition for the play or join the stage crew.

It’s going to be a fabulous year of theater, so join us after school next Tuesday, September 6th, in room 105 to learn more about how you can get involved.

Adult and Student All Sports Passes are available for $103 and $28 respectively. Family Passes offer a discount and are available to Booster Members. These athletic passes allow entry into all Sycamore high school and junior high home athletic contests during the regular season, but not tournament games or post-season play.

Sycamore Junior High Choir students have a very unique and exciting opportunity this school year. We have been invited to perform at Carnegie Hall, March 22-26, 2023!! The “Sycamore Elite Singers'' will be a select choir of approximately 44-48 students. Students who audition must be in one of our choral ensembles. (Concert Choir, Chorale, Treble Tones, Boy Choir or SSC) A parent meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 7th at 7:00 p.m. in the choir room. The parent meeting will provide an opportunity for parents to learn about the trip, trip costs, rehearsal obligations and audition information. Students interested in auditioning must attend one of two meetings- Tuesday, September 13th and/or Friday, September 14th at 7:15 a.m. in the choir room. Students will receive all audition materials at this time. Students considered for this trip must be in good academic and disciplinary standing. All other pertinent information about this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity will be presented at the parent and student meetings. Interested students should join the Google Classroom with code drhy7pj for all meeting and audition details. Questions concerning the Carnegie Hall trip should be directed to either JH choir director, Deborah Stein, steind@sycamoreschools.org or Jesse Callahan, callahanj@sycamoreschools.org.
