The Boerne ISD Board of Trustees held their regular monthly meeting in the BISD Board Room on Monday, March 27th, 2023.

State Bronze Medal
We celebrated the 2023 UIL Class 4A State Bronze Medalist, Boerne Greyhounds Girls Basketball Team
The Greyhounds advanced to the State Final Four for the second time in the past three seasons, as they won five playoff games in dominant fashion, outscoring their opponents by a total of 280 to 130.
In the state semifinals the Greyhounds fell to Sunnyvale in a hard-fought matchup to earn the bronze medal.
Boerne finished an amazing season with an overall record of 35-2. In the last two years, the Greyhounds have won 69 games and have lost only seven.
State Bronze Medal
We honored the 2023 UIL Class 4A State Bronze Medalist, Boerne Greyhounds Boys Basketball Team!
The Greyhounds made history as they advanced to the State Final Four for the third straight season. They won five playoff games in dominant fashion, outscoring their opponents by a total of 299 to 180.
In the state semifinals the Greyhounds fell to Booker T. Washington in a hard-fought matchup to earn the bronze medal.
Boerne finished an amazing season with an overall record of 32-6. The Greyhounds have won 11 of the last 14 district championships, including the last six in a row, and have won three straight state bronze medals.
State Champion!
We commended the Champion Film Students who qualified for the 2023 UIL Young Filmmakers Festival State Competition!
Two entries in the Traditional Animation category qualified for the film festival, Caroline Cabral’s film “Lifeline”, as well as the team of Devin Jensen, Seth Lane, Christopher Harris, and Tanner Charlton’s film “Maki”. The team of Jen Neubauer, Samara Gonzalez, Jackson Majetich, and Hegan Martin qualified in the Narrative category with their film “Saphris”.
At the state contest, Caroline Cabral’s film Lifeline won the Class 5A State Championship! This is the first-ever state film championship for Champion High School! Caroline wrote, animated, and illustrated the film, as well as composed the music.
The two other Champion student films each took fifth place in their respective categories.
State Qualifiers
We congratulated the State Qualifiers from the Boerne and Champion Boys and Girls Swim Team!
At the state meet, senior Griff Orloff won the UIL Class 5A state championship in the 100 breaststroke, as he set a new school record in the event.
The boys also earned a state silver medal in the 200 freestyle relay thanks to the team of Bexon Harrison, Will Harrison, Matthew Jeffrey and Griff Orloff.
The Charger boys placed fifth in the state, while the girls finished seventh.
The Greyhounds qualified for the state meet for the first time since 2008 and had 13 swimmers compete.
The Boerne Boys placed seventh in the state while the girls finished ninth. Senior Henry Johnson earned a bronze medal in the 100 backstroke to lead the Greyhounds.
State Qualifiers
We honored the Boerne and Champion Art Students who advanced to the Visual Arts Scholastic State Event!
Champion and Boerne each had four students qualify for the state event.

Over 35,000 pieces of artwork are submitted in the statewide competition, with these students placing among the highest in the state.
State Qualifiers
We honored the 2023 Texas State German Contest qualifiers!
Five Boerne ISD students won first place in their respective categories at the 2023 Texas State German Contest. Boerne High School siblings Mayah, Lila, and Jeffery Morrison, as well as Cole Grotjohn and Conner McLoy, all took first place in the state.
In addition, Boerne High School placed fourth in Sweepstakes for the small program division.
In all, the 2023 Texas State German Contest featured over 700 students from more than 40 schools who competed in over 90 events.

We recognized a family who generously donated to the Boerne Police Foundation to sponsor our School Resource Officers.
Brad and Callie Roberson donated $7,500 to Van Raub Elementary School
These generous donations assist in standardizing equipment and the acquisition of specialized equipment across all 12 BISD schools. This includes providing additional tools necessary to expedite response times in the event of an emergency.

Congratulations!
Compensation Resolution
The Board approved a resolution granting the Superintendent to authorize compensation of part-time and full-time employees whose payroll would be negatively impacted during the closure of the school district on March 10th, 2023.
