Dear Parents and Carers,
This week we welcomed parents and carers into school for our Reading Mornings. As usual, these sessions were very well attended. It was lovely to see people enjoying books with their children or grandchildren and using our new settee and beanbags in the library.
The Crisp Packet Project
I would like to bring your attention to the crisp packet project. I have been in contact with a parent whose workplace works closely with the charity Shelter. They are looking for empty crisp packets to be donated so that their volunteers can wash them and iron them together to make foil style blankets as an insulation tool for homeless sleepers. These will be distributed across homeless charities
I have spoken to the children in school and they are saving their crisp packets every day from their packed lunches and putting them into a ‘crisp packet bin’. If families would like to contribute to this very worthy cause, please save your crisp packets from home and bring them into school. School will then donate them. Thank you.
Experience Wakefield
Wakefield Council’s Tourism Team have organised numerous activities and events for over the October half term. This is super entertainment for families and most things are either free or very low cost. If you are able, please go along!
Harvest Festival
On Tuesday 17th October we are having a harvest festival assembly in school led by St Giles church. Last year, families kindly donated tinned foods and dried foods that could be sent to the local food bank. We would like to do the same this year. If you would like to send in donations, please can these be sent in by Monday 16th October so that we can create a display for the assembly. Thank you for your kindness.
Halloween Bun Sale
On Monday 23rd October, we would like to hold a Halloween Themed Bun Sale in school. Please can all buns be brought in for this date. All proceeds will go towards new lights for our new school stage. We look forward to seeing your creations!
Halloween discos
On Tuesday 24th October, all pupils will have the opportunity to attend a Halloween disco. Key stage one and EYFS will be in the afternoon. Key stage two will be after school from 3.15-4.15. Pupils must bring their costumes in a bag to get changed in school. Further communication will be sent out via the school office.
