Mock Caldecott at CR Elementary
Clayton Ridge Elementary Students had the opportunity to participate in a Mock Caldecott Voting Experience. The Caldecott award annually recognizes the preceding year's "most distinguished American picture book for children". This was designed by our own Medial Library Specialist, Mrs. Sarah Cherne. Classroom teachers read students each of the twenty-two nominated books and students voted their favorites. Classrooms were then able to choose their favorite book to keep in their classroom. The overall winner at Clayton Ridge Elementary was Knight Owl, while the National winner was Hot Dog. Following the presentation, we were joined by library staff from both Garnavillo and Guttenberg to get students excited about local summer reading programs.
