Upcoming School Events

June 15: Last Day of School (2-hour early dismissal)

The yearbooks have been shipped! Once they arrive, students who ordered yearbooks will receive them in their homeroom.

The 7th grade will have their Field Day on June 9th (rain date June 13th). Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately to be outside. Sunscreen and hats are highly recommended. Water will be available for every student, however, students may want to bring extra water just in case.

All 8th graders and their parents who have shown an interest in joining our MD-20021, AFJROTC unit here at Chopticon High School during the upcoming 2022/2023 school year. This Cadet Summer Orientation Camp will be held from August 15th to the 19th at Chopticon High School every day from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm. Students who want to attend this camp should complete this form and mail it to Chopticon AFJROTC or scan and email it to blmiller@smcps.org.

DAY OF FALL SPORTS TRYOUTS - 8/10/2022

You are expected to be at all tryout dates and practices starting August 10, 2022. Coaches cannot give you a waiver

Incoming 9th graders who participate in the Fall season are required to have a current physical. Please make sure that you use this form. (Physical Evaluation Form) All returning 9th through 12th graders must also have the required 2.0 overall GPA from the prior year. This is from the SMCPS BoardDoc. Fall eligibility for each subsequent year will be determined by the prior year’s overall GPA including summer school marks.

2022 Fall Sports registration will open by July 1, 2022.

You must be registered on FamilyID before August 8, 2022 at 4pm.

For online registration go to www.familyid.com and use "Find a program" to select your high school. It is recommended that physicals be done in July as they are good for one calendar year. (Physical Evaluation Form)

The CHS athletic boosters are providing our current 8th graders the opportunity to purchase Chopticon apparel before 9th grade begins. Please use the link below to place your orders. Orders can be picked up at MBMS on Monday, June 13, from 3:30-5:30 in the afternoon.

As we approach the end of the 2021-2022 school year, the media center will be reminding students of the items that are currently checked out on their individual accounts. There will be several reminders throughout the next several weeks. Please see the information below:

1. In mid-May, the end of May, and early June, each student will receive an email informing them of the items they currently have checked out (overdue or not) so they can begin to locate and return the items listed in the email. Note: Textbooks and ELA novels that are still being used in class will not need to be returned until they are no longer needed.

2. Laptops will not be collected unless the student is moving out of the county or state.

Please check with your child about the items listed on their account to be sure they are turned in before the end of the school year.

Parents and Guardians, please be reminded that you must present photo identification when picking up a student from school.

• Emergency contacts ARE NOT permitted to pick up students unless the parent/guardian notifies the school.
• Siblings who are not at least 18 years of age ARE NOT permitted to pick up students.

These requirements are meant to keep your child safe.
