It's always nice to have a gradual start to the year, and we're all gearing up for our first full, five-day school week!

So many amazing things are happening in classrooms, and seeing teachers building their classroom communities is one of my favorite things to see. I've witnessed fun and engaging math groups where I was even able to run a math group! So much fun!

Another big event this week happened at our PBIS meeting. PBIS, or Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, encourages a school-wide approach to promoting positive behavior and safety. At our meeting, each class shared what our school-wide expectations mean to them!

We also celebrated all staff this week! Our wonderful PTA put on a fabulous spread of salads from Bravo Zulu, delicious bread from Wally's, and family-made desserts. It was such a nice treat for the staff!!

Tuesday (9/13) - Thursday (9/15)

All teams practice from 3:30-5:00

Families, your soccer player may stay at school with the coaches until 3:30.

All learners get free breakfast and lunch this year. Please still fill out the free and reduced lunch and income verification forms. This helps us secure funding for future years. If you need new copies, please let Pam know.

To ensure we can take the best care of your child in school, it's critical that we get these forms back. If you need an additional copy, please let our health assistant, Julie Elkins, know.

GIS takes bus safety very seriously. We rely on our two outstanding drivers to be able to transport all kiddos home and will support them in upholding our school-wide expectations.

We have a bus monitor who will be communicating any bus behaviors that are not kind or safe to both the principal and the bus driver.

Please send all emails regarding early pick-up, dismissal changes, or absences to Pam Leonard and Ashley Hanlon.

Hi Families,

We will allow Pokemon at recess for students, but not during morning drop-off, lunch, or in the classroom unless the teacher has specified it's OK.

If we need to adjust these expectations, we will communicate the new expectations to you.
