PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Hello CV Family,
Fall Break is upon us, and it's hard to believe we'll return in just two weeks, and then it will be November! The second quarter always seems to pass by faster than any other time of the year.
In this newsletter, I want to focus on an important aspect: grades and transcripts. First and third-quarter grades can often feel final. However, it's crucial to remember that these grades are not final grades. The only grade that gets posted on a student's transcript is the semester grade, which represents their performance throughout both quarters and any assessments conducted toward the end of the semester.
While first and third-quarter grades hold significance, especially concerning eligibility for athletics and activities, they do not represent the final outcome. Students have the entire second quarter to improve their semester grades. We encourage you to take this opportunity to celebrate your child's progress or engage with them and our dedicated staff to work towards achieving their desired grades and credits.
As a reminder, we offer various intervention options, including in-school tutoring, to help students catch up and be better prepared to improve their grades and ensure they earn their credits. If you have any questions or need more information about our resources, please don't hesitate to reach out to your student's counselor or teacher directly.
We eagerly anticipate the second quarter of 2023 and hope you have a fantastic and rejuvenating Fall Break!
We appreciate your continued support!
Best regards,
Mr. Tyler Dumas

Freshman Family Meetings
Dear Freshmen Families,
We would like to welcome our Freshmen Coyotes to the Campo Verde High School family!
School counselors work to address students' academic, career, and social-emotional development ensuring today's students become the productive, well-adjusted adults of tomorrow. CVHS Counselors are assigned to students by an alphabet split of last names, please see your student’s assigned counselor below.
The transition from middle school to high school can be challenging (lots of questions, planning out classes, making new friends, where do I fit in?). High school years are full of growth, promise, excitement, frustration, disappointment, and hope. It is the time when students begin to discover what the future holds for them. Our goal is to make that transition a little less stressful. We would like to meet with YOU and YOUR STUDENT for a 30-minute, individual Freshman Family Meeting in person. During this time we will discuss your student’s four-year plan and goals. The counselor can answer any other questions you may have. If you are unable to attend, we would still like to meet with your child.
Follow this link to a brief video explaining the process. FRESHMAN FAMILY MEETING INTRO
Freshmen Next Steps:
SIGN UP for a meeting date and time below through Calendly with your assigned counselor. If you cannot attend with your student, please sign your child up for an appointment so we can create a four year plan. We will share the plan with you after the meeting via email.
Complete this form with your student Freshman Family Meeting PREP
We look forward to meeting you and we are excited to work with you and your child throughout the next four years!
PLEASE NOTE: These available time slots are for Freshmen Family Meetings Only.

Graduation Tracker
Parents and students can use the Graduation Tracker tool in the Infinite Campus portal to see if the student is on track for graduation. This tool will show the credits a student has earned and the credits the student has planned for future years.
Freshmen students will not have any credits shown in the Graduation Tracker until the end of the first semester. Once freshmen have completed their 4-year plan with their counselor during the Freshman Family Meeting, the credits and classes planned for future years will show up in the tracker.
Summer School Online Classes
The end dates for online summer school classes are near. Please make sure to have all assignments completed. Final exams need to be taken in-person either at Campo Verde or Global Academy. Global Academy will be open during Fall Break to take your exams. Please be sure to request your final grade once your exam has been taken. Also, check your transcript to ensure the grade posts.

YEARBOOK
Class of 2024!
The first step of your senior journey is to have your portrait taken for the yearbook. The yearbook's deadline for senior pictures is November 22nd. In order to meet this deadline, we have partnered with Southwest Portraits in Tempe, AZ to take your yearbook photos.
There is now only ONE option: Our on site senior portrait day has passed.
OPTION 1
Schedule an online appointment with Southwest Portraits to have your portrait taken at their Tempe studio located at 5450 S Lakeshore Dr. Suite 108, Tempe, AZ 85283 before the September deadline.
Key Information about Option 1: Final scheduling date for studio session BEFORE November 22nd to meet the yearbook deadline.
- Senior Portraits can be taken at the Southwest Photography Studio by calling 480-222-1199 to set an appointment. We had an error with the mailers, however, appointments can still be made by calling.
- It is recommended that Seniors bring their own clothing. However, if necessary, the studio will provide loaner jackets, ties, and drapes as needed.
- All studio services beyond the sitting (scheduling, ordering pictures, and paying fees) will be conducted online.
- The Yearbook portrait sessions will include 9-14 headshots on blue/brown tone background to select one for the yearbook.
- A deluxe session is offered with up to three outfits, including the yearbook outfit, inside and outside in each outfit.
- Portraits will be shown immediately after the session for the students/parents to choose the yearbook portrait and see available options (choosing the yearbook pose, ordering photos, and any additional payment.)
Dress Code Note: Students must dress to impress (collared shirt, tie, suit jacket, dress, and/or professional blouse/professional wear). Clothing must be free of logos/signage/text and should not be transparent or too revealing. Headwear is not permitted (except in the case of religious or medical purposes).
Students are required to wear formal attire that would follow the school dress code. Please avoid plunging necklines strapless attire, or spaghetti straps. Darker colors will look best on the senior portrait background.

LIBRARY
Congratulations to this quarter’s top readers! These students have the most books checked out in their class. Our circulation system is able to keep track of how many checkouts each student has while at Campo and is able to keep track of each student’s total for all the years they are at Campo. The students with the most checkouts in their class will be recognized each quarter. Mrs. Flaherty recognized these students on the school announcements and gave each student a small reward. Keep up the good work Coyotes!
Mrs. Flaherty and Mrs. Jeffers are so proud of our two student aides, Hannah Hughes and MaKenzie Steffen, for working together to create a book display. They had the idea of picking popular tv shows or movies and finding books that related to them. They were able to use descriptive words to show the relationships between the tv show/movie and the book. And they did this for twenty different books! There are lots of options for our students to peruse! Thank you to these talented students!
Chromebook Information:
Make sure students sign out of their Chromebook and sign back in while at home over break. This will allow the Chromebook to run smoother while using your home network.
Then the BIG thing to remember is to charge the Chromebook the night before we come back from Fall Break (October 15).
Digital Citizenship:
Here is a great list of apps that your teens may or may not know about. They are listed by age (from 2-14+). They are all different types of educational apps. The reviews explain the basic gist of each app, show which devices support the app, give hot topics per app as to what you should talk about with your child. Check it out and see if there are any apps you want to share with your teen or other children.

TRANSCRIPTS
Transcript Orders Through Parchment
Campo is now using Parchment to order and send out all transcripts. Parchment is a vendor that electronically sends transcripts upon a student's request and is relatively self-service. However, to utilize this option moving forward, all of our students will need to create a free Parchment account. While the account is free, there is a charge if the request is for an official transcript and is paid by the student at the time of ordering.
Parchment uses the highest security standards and the service complies with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). This service is available from approximately 12 a.m. to 11 p.m. Pacific Time.
Please check your student's email inbox for the invite to create your Parchment account.
