District Update
January 2024

Hello East Ramapo Community,
The temperature may be dropping, but the activity in the East Ramapo Central School District never cools off! As we settle into 2024, we are excited to update you on the latest in this edition of Roundup Notes. Throughout the district, our academic theme “This is Me, Leaning Into Literacy,” continues to be implemented in our classrooms, as our educators embrace “the science of reading” to help students become fluid and comprehensive readers. We were happy to see this approach reflected as the bedrock of Governor Kathy Hochul’s recent education proposal, affirming that East Ramapo is on the right track when it comes to teaching this most foundational academic skill.
On our social media channels, we have launched the “Made in East Ramapo” campaign, highlighting the many faculty and staff members in East Ramapo who also went through the district as students. The recently released launch video is only a taste of the many proud ERCSD alums who have devoted their professional life to the district where they received their own education, and we look forward to sharing more of these stories on social media in the coming months.
There is much to look forward to next month, including the Rockland Read-In and celebrations of Black History Month across the district. Stay tuned to the district website and our social media channels for information about these events and all the exciting goings-on in East Ramapo!
Sincerely,
Dr. Clarence G. Ellis
Superintendent of Schools
