Dear Parents / Carers,
Well what a brilliant week we have had in school! It has been very busy with lots going on.
We started the week with a dance performance from the children who attend the morning dance club. It was great to see what they have been learning and how much they enjoy it. Well done dance club!
On Tuesday Donaldson Class visited the church and Reverend Paulie helped them to celebrate a baptism. They were very interested in what happens and why and enjoyed the experience of being in our lovely village church.
On Wednesday, Years 5 and 6 had a visit from the Fire Brigade to teach them about the dangers of both fire and water with the intention of keeping them safe over the holidays. It was an interesting talk with some frightening facts.
On Thursday, Year 5 visited the woods for their Forest School day and thoroughly enjoyed a great day learning forest skills but also developing friendships, resilience and team work. Well done year 5!
The day ended with a brilliant school disco organised by the Friends of Kirk Fenton. My thanks go to the members of the Friends and also to the many staff who stayed to help and in particular DJ Priory who enjoyed his first school disco as a teacher!
Next week is half term so I hope you are all able to have a restful week enjoying the sunshine. We are back at school from 8:35 on Monday 5th June.
Have a lovely half term,
Karen Williams

Staff Thank You's
If anyone would like to say thank you to or has any positive comments for a member of staff then please complete and submit the form below.
It was fantastic to see all the children having so much fun at the discos yesterday! We hope the children all enjoyed themselves - a lovely way to end the term, and having seen the fun they had we'll be planning another one for sure.
The final BIG event for the year is the Summer Fair, which is after school on Friday 30th June. See the poster for more information. We are still in search of raffle prizes and volunteers, so if you would like to donate a raffle prize, or are able to help in the run up/on the day itself - please let us know.
Thank you to everyone who has donated books and teddies in recent weeks for the events - we're working hard to raise the funds to provide additional Chromebooks and get a covered outdoor play area for the school. We really do appreciate your support.

Sunshine and blue skies beckon (although there are no guarantees with the British weather!). As the summer approaches, we look forward to cloudless skies, BBQ's and relaxing with friends and family. But as the temperatures rise, so can the heat in our family life! Tempers can fray with the longer days; our patience can be stretched to the limits with the season of school exams.
At Family Matters York, we understand!
We would love to support you and your family in helping you to stay cool this summer. We offer FREE parenting courses & events across the city to give you a safe space to learn and share ideas with others, to help make your family life more enjoyable this summer.
