Principal Notes
Hello, BHS students and families!
We had a fantastic Homecoming week! Our school spirit was in full force on our spirit days, at the Girls of the Gridiron Game, our BHS Pep Rally, the BCSD Homecoming Parade, the Homecoming Football Game, and the Homecoming Dance! Thank you to all who made these events possible. It is truly one of the special times in our school calendar and a time I look forward to every year. I shared some pictures from the week below.
Additional news and notes below, and, as always, don't hesitate to contact us if we can support your student and their success in any additional way.

The Rachel’s Challenge Program seeks to address the root causes of school violence, bullying, prejudice, and self-harm through student wellness programs that build connection, hope and resilience. We are happy to once again provide students and staff with an opportunity to engage in this powerful and positive program.
On October 10th through 13th, BHS will hold Chain Reaction events for a group of approximately 100 students from each grade level, 9-12.
A Chain Reaction workshop is a powerful, high-energy program in which youth and adult participants are guided through a series of experiential learning processes. The overall goals of the program are to increase personal power and self-esteem, to shift dangerous peer pressure to positive peer support and to eliminate the acceptability of teasing, violence and all forms of oppression. Chain Reaction programs are designed to unite the members of the school community and to empower them to carry the themes of the program back to the greater school population. Chain Reaction seeks to successfully address issues of violence, teasing, social oppression, racism, harassment, conflict management, suicide, peer pressure, alcohol and drugs.
If any student would like to participate in one of our Chain Reaction workshops, please complete the survey linked here to let us know which grade level workshop you would prefer to participate in. It is suggested that the program can the greatest impact if you participate with the students you teach or work with regularly. We also ask that you not participate in an event that includes a student with which you have a personal relationship, such as a son, daughter, or other family member.
Thank you for your consideration, and please let me know if you have any questions.

On Monday, October 2, 2023, Brockport CSD will be hosting a Community Event from 7-8 p.m. in the Brockport High School Auditorium (700 Central School Dr.). A Rachel’s Challenge staff member will share Rachel’s story. All families and community members are welcome to learn more about this program. Note: The content is geared towards students in gr. 7-12.
This tragic yet inspiring story illustrates how deliberately reaching out to others with kind words and small acts of kindness can have a life-changing impact. The district is building on the success seen with the program last year and will again present Rachel’s Challenge to students in grades 7-12 through age and content-appropriate assemblies and chain reaction workshops. The goal is to work as a team to inspire and empower students to affect permanent, positive change within the district and community through their actions and words.

District Issued Laptop Care
Dear Parents,
We hope this message finds you well. As we navigate the ever-evolving world of education in the digital age, we want to stress the significance of a small yet crucial detail: the protective laptop case. It might seem like a simple accessory, but it plays a vital role in safeguarding your child's valuable educational tool.
Laptops have become an indispensable part of your child's education, allowing them to access resources, engage with coursework, and connect with teachers and peers. However, as we all know, accidents can happen. That's why we encourage all students to keep their protective laptop cases on at all times.
Here are some compelling reasons why this practice is so important:
- Protection Against Drops: Accidental drops are one of the most common causes of laptop damage. The protective case acts as a cushion, absorbing the shock and minimizing the risk of internal or external damage.
- Resisting Spills: Spills are another common threat to laptops. Whether it's a spilled drink or an unintentional food mishap, the protective case can create a barrier, preventing liquids from seeping into the laptop and causing irreparable harm.
- Durability: The wear and tear of daily use can lead to scratches, scuffs, and dings. A protective case helps maintain the pristine condition of the laptop, ensuring its longevity.
- Cost-Efficiency: Repairing or replacing a damaged laptop can be a costly affair. By keeping the protective case on, you're not only protecting the laptop but also saving money on potential repairs or replacements.
- Peace of Mind: Knowing that your child's laptop is well-protected allows both parents and students to focus on what matters most – learning and achieving academic success.
We kindly ask for your support in instilling this practice in your child's daily routine. Encourage them to keep their protective laptop case on whenever they're using their device, both at school and at home. It's a small effort that can have a significant impact on the longevity and reliability of their educational tool.
Thank you for your partnership in ensuring the best possible educational experience for your child. Together, we can provide them with the tools they need to thrive in the digital world while safeguarding your investment.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. We're here to support you and your child's educational journey.
Warm regards,
