Arrival and Dismissal
Arrival:
Cars will line up in the fire lane - please stay in vehicles and do not walk students to the doors. This will allow for a smooth flow of traffic. If you need to walk a student to the doors, please find a parking space and walk together to the doors. Adults will not be allowed to walk students to their classrooms (we will have plenty of staff on hand to assist students needing assistance).
Once students have exited the vehicle you may pull away from the curb. We will snake a line around the middle parking spaces in the morning to allow a few more vehicles in the main lot. Pay attention to the security and building staff on duty to allow for a smooth process. An overflow line will form across the street at our TTC lot - security will direct traffic across the campus drive when appropriate.
We open our school doors at 9:00 a.m. We can easily move all students into the building within 10 minutes if everybody cooperates and follows these suggestions. If you plan to take pictures of students in front of the building, please either park across the street at the TTC lot (North side by the track) or be in line early (ready to get back in vehicles when we open doors at 9:00).
Dismissal:
Notification ahead of time is key here! Thank you to the 44 people who have filled out the form for regular afternoon pick-up. If you are picking up at the end of the day you should either fill out the form (see below) or email the office at Barclay.elementary@bcs1.org
Students being picked up at the end of the day go on a list that is live to our teachers. Last minute arrivals slow down our check-in process and may mean that your student is not ready to dismiss on time from our cafeteria. When you arrive at Barclay you will either pull into our fire lane (staying in vehicle) or you will be staged in one line across the street at TTC. A staff member will check you in and your student is assigned a number in line. They find the corresponding number in our cafeteria and are walked out in order to vehicles. Remember to have Pick-Up Pals or photo ID to speed our process up. Don't worry if the line is long - we move people quickly when everybody is on the same page. Glitches occasionally occur, but we still operate this process smoothly and safely.
If you want to walk up to our blue cafeteria doors rather than staying in the car line please park across the street at the North side of the TTC lot (by the track) and walk up to the building. You will still need the Pick-Up Pal card.
The parent pick up was moved to 2:55 for the first week of school. We will call students to the cafeteria at 2:55. If you have students in multiple buildings, I recommend picking up from other building s first, leaving Barclay until last. Please be here by 3:15 the first week and 3:20 the rest of the school year. We understand if you're running late, but appreciate your assistance with this process.
Visitors
Visitor and volunteers must check in at the main office. You will be checked into our Raptor system and be issued a sticker for the length of your stay in the building. You will check out with the office staff when you leave the building.
Parents and approved family members will be allowed in for lunch beginning Monday, September 19th. This will allow students to get acclimated to our lunch procedures and routines.
Thanks to the Communications Department for this Little Gem!
