Education Week: Spotlight on Staffing Challenges
Leading for Equity: Classroom Walkthrough | 2 Hours | Register
This workshop will introduce a sample walkthrough resource that includes specific attention to practices and principles of exemplary and equitable teaching for multilingual learners. This resource was designed to be applied to current walkthrough practices and protocols within any classroom in which academic language connected to content is used. During the workshop, participants will have an opportunity to learn about ways to use and apply this formative classroom walkthrough resource. Video, activity, subject matter expert commentary, and handouts will be included. For any K-12 school leader who engages in classroom walkthroughs.
School Improvement Planning for the Equitable Education of Multilingual Learners | 7 Hours | Register
This workshop will introduce school leaders to leadership principles and practices to provide equitable educational opportunities for multilingual learners, based on a distributive leadership model. Videos, readings, opportunities for reflection as well as suggestions and resources for team planning activities are included. At the end of the workshop, participants will be introduced to the WIDA SIS, an online school improvement assessment tool that can be utilized in the school improvement process to prioritize learning opportunities for multilingual learners. For any K-12 school leader and their team who engage in school improvement planning in a linguistically diverse context.
WORLD LANGUAGES:
FLANC ShareFest
FLANC’s 2023 ShareFest will be on Saturday, May 6 from 9 am - 12 pm. This is a free, virtual opportunity to connect with fellow World Language and Dual Language/Immersion teachers from all over North Carolina to enjoy informal discussions and networking. The K-12 Math team is continuing their online Math PD series. The sessions are led by math teachers and math leaders from around the State. Topics were chosen by math teachers.The sessions include small group time, practice time, and are based on specific classroom tasks to support conceptual learning. 2023 Belfer National Conference for Educators: Free Virtual Professional Learning Opportunity
June 26–28
Registration is open for this year’s conference, which will address two critical themes: the role of antisemitism during the Holocaust and teaching with evidence. Designed to support accurate, meaningful teaching about the Holocaust, the conference will feature many new sessions and invite educators to engage with current historical research and instructional best practices.
Construyendo Puentes: Bringing Holocaust Education to the Spanish-Speaking Classroom
The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum's CHEC Spanish Resource Workshop on Tuesday, May 9 from 7-9PM EST (note - this workshop will be in English).
During this free virtual event, participants will meet Holocaust education leaders working at the state and local level and learn how to bring Holocaust education into classrooms with high quality Spanish-language resources, foundational classroom-ready lesson plans, relevant cultural connections, professional development and educational programming.

Code for fun presents: Computer Science PD Series
Our Fall Professional Development calendar is now available. We offer 16 short PD sessions on Zoom, focused on Computer Science Education in K-12. Each session targets a specific topic and/or grade.
Code for fun has been training educators for more than 6 years on how to bring computer science to their classroom, in a fun and easy way. Our trainings are hands-on and help educators unpack our lesson plans in a non intimidating way. Learn more about us.

2022-23 NC WIDA Workshops and eLearning Club
Every school year, NCDPI ESL/Title III offers both face-to-face and online workshops developed by World-Class Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDA). WIDA Workshops are free and available to all NC public and charter school educators.
The eLearning Club is a professional learning opportunity for educators of multilingual learners to discuss the WIDA eLearning Workshops and share ideas on how to implement the resources. Educators completing the workshops will have the opportunity to join live sessions for open discussion.

Apple Learning Coach is a free professional learning program that trains instructional coaches, digital learning specialists, and other coaching educators to help teachers get more out of Apple technology. It’s a dynamic mix of self-paced lessons, workshop sessions, and personal creative projects — and participants may be eligible to receive continuing education credits.
