Our Tamariki are loving our latest Fundraising Purchase
We are very grateful to the group of schools who supported the fundraiser at the latest LEAD 2019 Conference last Friday by way of purchasing Pizza's for Lunch, which raised $...... We are also very grateful to whanau / families who purchased recent photos through Photo Life recently as we raised 4.... We are still looking for other donations to assist with the full purchase price of the handbike, so if you know of any business who may be looking to support EQUITY in education, please get them to contact us here at IPS.
Equity and equality are two strategies we can use in an effort to produce fairness. Equity is giving everyone what they need to be successful. Equality is treating everyone the same. Equality aims to promote fairness, but it can only work if everyone starts from the same place and needs the same help

Intermediate Debating Success
The competition against Norfolk School was a huge success with our students performing with confidence and gaining much from the experience, thinking on the hoof, to come up with rebuttals against the oppositions argument.
Year 8: Erini Fruean won best speaker, and Rhianna Chard second best speaker and the team took the win, with Cameron Ker the third team member. Thanks to Amber Storer who was the time keeper for this round.
Year 7: Matthew Tee won third speaker with the team narrowly losing to Norfolk. William Young and Capri Peterson also spoke really well with great maturity, especially working as a team. Maddison Tubby was the time keeper.
We are exceptionally proud of the way the students supported each other and our Year 6 team eagerly took notes and are excited for their turn on Monday.
National Day of Support for Principals
Teachers recently won pay parity with their secondary colleagues, because a teacher is a teacher, regardless of the age of their students. But the government refused to give primary and intermediate principals parity with principals of comparably sized secondary schools, or any support for growing workloads. In small schools, principals are doing a complex job but often without any extra support, and while teaching as well. And these principals are often paid less than some teachers in large schools.
We're calling on the Government to do the right thing by principals. It's only fair.
Today 9 August, we are dressed in green. Thank you for supporting the principals of Aotearoa, who do such a vital job leading the teaching and learning in our schools.

Garden Projects
It is quite nice to have a couple of cold crisp evenings to assist with eliminating winter bugs for human, animal and plant life. We are looking forward to potting up seedlings in readiness to have plants in our gardens.
We have had suggestions fro our staff that we could build a gate stall to assist with selling the produce when ready at the gate. If you would love to come and help staff and students with this project, pop into our kura and touch base with one of our fabulous support staff team and let's make this happen.
Reminders
Help! Help! Recycled Bottle House
We need more clear 1.25 litre and 2.25 litre bottles. If you have an interest in assisting with environmental projects please contact Mrs Ritchie who would love some support. We have a lot of projects and the Enviro Crew work most Tuesday and Thursday lunchtimes on projects.
Safety Around Buses
Thank you to all those that park in the appropriate places and walk their students across the Kea Crossing. Look out, we will be catching those ‘being good’ on random days. WE LOOK FORWARD TO CATCHING YOU.
We can have up to 9 buses call through our bus stop and school zone with 4-5 stopping to drop off students.
Do not drop your students off in this space. Feel free to drive around the block or drop them off in Hinau Street.
We pass on vehicle details to the Police of those who put our students’ safety at risk. Don’t be one of them! (Parking/stopping in a bus stop (even if you are sitting in the car and only stop for a moment) is a ticketable offence of $60)
