SCHOOL GUIDELINES FOR DRESS AND GROOMING
Our Elementary School Student Handbook includes a section on dress and grooming on page 28. When possible, students in violation of the handbook will be provided with alternatives at school. In some cases, it will be necessary to call parents to arrange for other clothing items. Repeated violations of the dress and grooming guidelines may result in disciplinary action.
SENSE OF BELONGING AND TRUSTED ADULT SURVEY / OPT-OUT INFORMATION
One of the district’s goals is for all students to feel safe, supported, and connected at school. To help the district focus our efforts on identified needs, students will be taking a short anonymous Belonging Survey during the survey window from October 16-23, 2023. Parents can preview the survey for the Primary School by clicking here. The only information collected will be the grade level for each student taking the survey.
In addition to the questions on the Belonging Survey, Primary students will be asked to identify school staff members who they consider to be a trusted adult (the explanation shared with students is that a trusted adult is someone who helps, listens, understands, and makes them feel safe at school). Unlike the Belonging Survey, which is anonymous, the students use their names when identifying staff members at school that they trust. This survey will be completed in Wellness classes using iPads. The students will be able to see photographs of the Primary staff members on the iPad screen in addition to their names and select a checkbox next to trusted staff members. If you would like to learn the staff identified as trusted adults by your child, please email Principal Smith at smith.132@napls.us.
Parents may opt their student out of the Belonging and Trusted Adult survey by completing this opt-out form. Completing the Opt-Out form will prevent a child from taking the Belonging Survey in class, the Trusted Adult Survey during Wellness, as well as any follow-up activities related to the Trusted Adult Survey. Opt-out forms must be completed by 5:00 pm on Friday October 13, 2023.
INVIEW TESTING - SECOND GRADE ONLY
Students in second grade will be taking the InView Cognitive Ability Test this month. Second grade students will take the test in two parts on October 25 and 27. To learn more about the InView test, click here.
LOST AND FOUND
Please continue to label personal items and encourage students to check lost and found for any belongings that may have been left behind or misplaced during the school day. The mornings are cool and the afternoons are warm, which means that sweatshirts and jackets are taken off and forgotten about. If your child packs his/her lunch or carries a water bottle, please also remind them to collect their items from the playground before heading into the building and/or check Lost and Found as they walk by each day.
SCHOOL FEES FOR 2023-2024
