News from Glen Crest Middle School: April 16, 2023
From the Principal
The spring social on Friday night was a great success! Thank you to Meredith Darbyshire, Sarah Fort and Isabel Rubinas for organizing the event. Thank you also to all of the parent volunteers who were there for the evening or donated water bottles. We cannot sponsor these events without parent support and you are all very much appreciated!!
The Music Cafe on Saturday was also a huge success! Thank you to Mrs. Berry, Mr. Garber, Mrs. Kline, Mr. Ladendorf and Mr. Koppitz for all of their hard work to make this event happen. Thank you also to all of the parent volunteers who supported the Music Cafe.
Help spread the word! We will be hosting Parent Orientation for our incoming 6th grade parents on May 4th. All incoming parents will receive an invitation with more details this week.
Blackberry Market Fundraiser this week!!
Starting on Monday, April 17th, we will be having a WEEK LONG PTC fundraiser with Blackberry Market in downtown Glen Ellyn. The event runs all day - all week, so opportunities for those who get coffee in the morning, lunch in the afternoon, a pick-me-up or snack after school, or a grab-and-go meal for an easy dinner.
10% of all purchases made during that week (through Sunday, April 23rd) will count towards our fundraiser and just need to mention Glen Crest when ordering in person, over the phone or included in the promo code field when ordering on-line. Flyer attached!
Extra curricular activities
Builder's club has a meeting after school on Monday, April 17th. We will be talking about the last events of the school year and starting to plan for next year. Anyone is welcome!
Computer Club Meets Thursday 4/20 in room 604, See Mr. Romani with questions.
Lego Robotics meets on Monday 4/17 in Room 604.
Dungeons & Dragons will meet Tuesday, 4/18 after school in the library.
Chess Club will take place on Monday after school in the library.

Parent Series: Empowering kids with the skills of tomorrow (April 18)
At 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18, college professor Dr. John Spencer will share techniques to nurture a child’s problem-solving, resilience, curiosity, and flexibility so they are prepared for the careers of the future.
