Student Achievement
Mrs. Urbon and Mrs. Hamilton’s 1st grade class wrote about their favorite Thanksgiving Food and they created turkeys telling what they are thankful for!
Mrs. Zompa and Ms. Steffan's class talked about how they can make a boring sentence more interesting by using descriptive words. To help them come up with descriptive words for a pumpkin, the students observed the outside and inside of one. They talked about the texture, odor, shape, and color. Some of the descriptive words they came up with for the texture of the outside of a pumpkin were smooth and bumpy (depending on their pumpkin). They also mentioned the color of the pumpkins being orange and that they’re round. One student even used the math term “sphere” to describe its shape! Some of the descriptive words used for the inside were slimy, sticky, cold, gooey, wet, and stinky. One student described the strings in the pumpkin to be “worm- like.” As if all this wasn't great enough, the class got to examine some of the seeds that started to sprout a few days later!
They are learning a lot (while having some fun) in second grade!!
Ms. Sheridan and Ms. Sansom's students stretched their brains to new limits playing a bath game that required finding the equation AND the answer!
Keep up the great work!!!
Ms. Swigert, Ms. Alverson and Ms. Ungerer's 3rd grade class have been working very hard on their multiplication facts. Here they are participating in some fun hands-on activities to practice the distributive property of multiplication.
Second graders are in the ART ROOM working hard. Last week we discussed LANDSCAPES and used permanent paint to create.
