November Update

It's hard to believe that the cold weather is upon us and that we are already in the month of November. November is a month with a few needed breaks for kids. On November10th, there is no school as well some days off for Thanksgiving beginning on the 22nd.

The kids and teachers have been working hard and we hope you can see that your children are growing as learners every day. Please continue to read with your little ones and check their backpacks nightly for completed assignments, communication from their classroom, and for uncompleted work. As always, please reach out to your child's teacher if you have a question or concern. We are all here to make sure your West Buncombe students reach their full potential.

We have a new system here at West Buncombe that will require any adult picking up their child to have their license. The first time, your license will be entered into the system from that point forward you will just need to scan your license at the kiosk. Thank you, our top priority is keeping your child safe.

One of the most well-established findings in educational research is that reading comprehension and vocabulary knowledge are highly correlated with one another, and the knowledge of individual word meanings accounts for as much as 50-60% of variance in reading comprehension.
