September is Hispanic Heritage Month
Brief History:
The National Council of Hispanic Employment Program Managers
“The Hispanic Heritage observance began in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period starting on September 15 and ending on October 15. It was enacted into law on August 17, 1988, on the approval of Public Law 100- 402. The NCHEPM is a membership-based organization consisting of an executive board, members, associates, and partners from multiple Federal agencies and other organizations from across the United States, advocating for the improvement of Hispanic participation in the Federal Government.” Source
Hispanic Heritage Month 2022 Theme:
"Unidos: Inclusivity for a Stronger Nation" is this year's Hispanic Heritage Month theme from the National Council of Hispanic Employment Program Managers. This year's theme poster's winner is Ms. Ily Soares. She writes, "Hispanics in the United States are a diverse group who bring a rich combination of language, culture, educational backgrounds, and experience to the great American experiment. This diverse background brings with it a wealth of ideas and perspectives. One uniting factor within our Hispanic community is our desire to be included and represented in all aspects of American society. As has been proven, when different voices are sitting at the metaphorical table and included in key decisions, the entire community benefits from greater solutions that address concerns from all people. Whether it be education, government, business, or the environment, ensuring that all voices are represented provide results in better and more thoughtful decisions. These improved decisions support the greater good and minimize any negative impacts to marginalized communities and people of color. We call on citizens of this nation from all walks of life to look around and welcome new voices to the table. This will help us build stronger communities and in turn, a stronger nation."

Drop Off and Pick Up
Thank you for your patience as we train families and new Dolphins on our drop off and pick up routines. We know by the end of the week we will be back to running smooth systems as kids, parents and staff learn each Dolphin's routine. Our normal routine is all kids are dismissed by 3:25. Today we were at 3:35 and know that's a first day hiccup that will smooth out.
No access to building at morning drop off. We are so sorry you are not able to walk children into the building at morning drop off. As we enhance safety protocols we have really tightened systems across the district and ask that you part ways with your student at the front doors. We need you to be our partners in ensuring a high level of safety and this is one way you can help. We want your experience at Daffodil to be a positive, welcoming one and understand this routine doesn't lend itself to that for parents who want to assist in the morning transition. We appreciate your help with this and know we all want school to do everything it can to keep our kids safe.
