Jimtown Intermediate is a National Blue Ribbon School
The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes public and private elementary, middle, and high schools based on their overall academic excellence or their progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups. Jimtown Intermediate was one of 353 schools in the nation to receive this coveted award.
STEM Programming Thrives at JIS
Jimtown Intermediate’s STEM class has been hard at work. STEM is one of the four specials offered at JIS. Our students have been creating hot air balloons to escape Antarctica, new dog toys to save a company, cameras to film a movie when the original camera was broken and so much more.
Jimtown Elementary Creating Outstanding Readers
One of our most important priorities at JES is to teach the fundamentals of reading. Our reading framework includes whole group, small group and individual practice. It begins with a comprehensive phonics program. Students have daily practice in letters, sounds and word-building. A whole group comprehension and vocabulary lesson follows that. Additionally, students participate in a reading group which is at their reading level. Another key component is individualized learning paths that students work on daily. Working together, these components give students every chance to become lifelong readers.
JES High Ability Program in the Spotlight
Jimtown Elementary is proud to offer the opportunity for students to participate in activities that challenge their thinking and bring out their creativity while working on their growth mindset. They know when they go to Mrs. Friedauer’s High Ability (HA) room that she will give them hard things to do that will stretch and grow their brains. Our HA program serves all students each month regardless of their placement. In addition, students who have been identified for the program meet on a regular basis. Students report that they thoroughly enjoy their time in the HA classroom.

We are excited to have him on the team!
Welcome Robert Barbour to the Board!
Robert writes, "...After growing up in a military family and moving around frequently, Robert and his wife Carrie have been proud Jimtown residents for 17 years choosing to raise their daughter in Baugo schools because of the small town feel and reputation of the district. He is dedicated to help with the continued improvement of the schools while ensuring Jimtown stays true to what made it great. Currently employed as a Sales Manager at Champagne Metals in Middlebury, Robert spends much of his time on the sidelines or stands of Jimtown sporting events. In their free time Robert, Carrie, and their daughter Ava like spending time traveling to warmer destinations with friends or off-roading in their Jeep...".
