Remote Learning Parent Superstars!
Thank you parents for all you are doing at home to help your kids stay on track and engaged with their classroom teachers every day. We know that you are a vital factor in helping them log in and learn with their class on time. Below are a few reminders and tips to help your child maximize their learning each week.
If your child is ill and not able to log into their lessons with the teacher, you need to call the school office attendance line. 331-228-3300. We take accurate attendance every day and want every student to be "present" in their classes. Again, you must report their absence to the school, or they will be marked as unexcused for the day.
Quiet Organized Space:
As much as possible, help your kids find a quiet organized space for them to work. Make sure they have all the materials the teacher has sent home. (workbooks, whiteboard, markers, paper, pencils...)
Check In's and Encouragement:
As much as possible, please "check-in" with your child throughout their learning times to encourage them and see if they need anything. Just knowing that Mom or Dad, (or babysitter) will be checking in on them will help them stay more focused and accomplish all the needed academic work.
Strong Body = Strong Mind!
Of course, I love junk food just as much as any parent out there, but always consider what you are filling your kids up with each day. A healthy breakfast and plenty of water will help them learn more and stay more attentive. Another helpful tip is to get them outside. Even if it is for a few minutes to get some sunshine and fresh air. Put a warm coat and hat on and run three laps around the house. It does wonders for their energy! Better yet, join them when they run. :)

Help Mr. Jarot catch the Gorilla!!!!!
Anderson Students, please help me catch the gorilla that is running around our school. We know he is sneaky, fast, and super smart. Write down your plans step by step. Include diagrams with labels, headings, and pictures. Use Flipgrid to record a video explaining and showing me exactly how to catch this gorilla. I need your creative ideas. Thanks!

Winter break is coming, and it is the perfect time to explore and try something new or just have fun as a family. Join us for this 90-minute Parent University session where we will share ways to foster a love of learning through fun activities you can do as a family. We will guide you through sites and activities you can use with your child to visit faraway places, create a family podcast, find a new favorite book, and play collaborative problem-solving games. Want to work as a Substitute Teacher in D303?
It takes more adults to operate schools safely for students during the pandemic. District 303 currently has numerous job openings in a variety of job categories. If you are looking for temporary, part-time, or full-time employment, please visit the D303 Human Resources page to apply for a position.
One of the more flexible positions available is that of a D303 Substitute. You can choose to work, or not work, as your schedule permits. Take a moment and read the Substitute Handbook to see what this job entails.
If you are interested and hold a:
- Bachelor's degree in any field you would qualify to apply for a substitute license with the state which allows you to sub for teachers or teacher assistants. You would apply using THIS link.
- Associate's degree you apply for a Paraprofessional license which only allows you to sub for Teaching assistants. You would apply using THIS link.
- High School diploma you have to take an aptitude test with the KANE ROE office. Once you pass that, you apply for a Paraprofessional license which only allows you to sub for Teaching assistants. You would apply using THIS link.
