Crowley ISD Dual Credit Enrollment Soars
Dual credit enrollment in Crowley ISD is exploding as more students take advantage of opportunities to obtain college credit hours while in high school.
Dual Credit Highlights
- The number of Crowley ISD students enrolled in dual credit courses has increased 329% since 2017-18, moving from 116 students to 498 in the 2019-20 school year.
- The percent of economically disadvantaged students enrolled in dual credit also has increased, going from 47% to 56% since the 2018-19 school year.
- All CISD dual credit students are receiving financial assistance this school year.
- Students on free/reduced lunch pay $40 per course ($152 savings to families)
- All other students pay $80 per course ($92 savings to families)
Board Recognizes September Heartbeat Winner
Laurie Monroe, Crowley Ninth Grade teacher, is the September 2019 Heartbeat Team Award winner.
The award recognizes employees who display heart as they go above and beyond their job description, inspiring other employees through their extraordinary work ethic. Heartbeat team members are nominated only by other district employees.

Hispanic Heritage Bowl Set for October 19
Crowley ISD is celebrating national Hispanic Heritage Month Sept. 15 through Oct. 15 by recognizing the contributions made by, and the important presence of, Hispanic and Latino Americans in the United States.
As part of the celebration, the district will host its annual Hispanic Heritage Bowl on Oct. 19 at the B.R. Johnson Career & Tech Center for students in grades 3-12.

CISD Supports 2019 Day of the Girl Event

Trustees approved a proclamation in support of Girls Inc. and the annual Day of the Girl events, which take place this year on Oct. 11.
The proclamation states, "The Day of the Girl is dedicated to informing girls about problems affecting girls and helping them overcome these obstacles by empowering them to be Strong! Smart! And Bold! while urging them to realize their potential and follow their dreams ..."
CISD to Offer Seal of Biliteracy Pathway
Trustees approved establishing the use of a local Spanish Credit by Exam (CBE) to strengthen the pathway to a Seal of Biliteracy.
Under a Seal of Biliteracy Pathway, students could:
- Earn Spanish 1, 2, and 3 credit on CBE in fifth or sixth grade
- Complete Pre-AP and AP Spanish by the end of eighth grade
- Score a highest possible score on AP Spanish Language exam, resulting in college credit
- Continue honing Spanish skills in Conversational Professional Spanish and AP Spanish Literature
- Graduate with Seal of Biliteracy
