MESSAGE FROM THE CCS ADMINISTRATION
Dear CCS Families, Caregivers and Charlotte Community,
Thank you to everyone who joined us last night at our Community Connection Night sponsored by the PTO. We walked away with a tremendous appreciation for the supportive community of Charlotte. Reflecting on the instructional changes over the last couple of years highlighted the innovative ways educators strive to meet the needs of every individual student. There are plenty of opportunities for you to join in contributing to this mission. If you have one hour a week to be a mentor, please reach out to CCS Mentor Coordinator, Kate Rooney (krooney@cvsdvt.org ). Parents who are interested in supporting a lunch/recess rotation, please reach out to your PTO grade representative or PTO officer as they gather names of those parents interested in volunteering at CCS.
Charlotte Fire and Rescue joined kindergarten through fourth grade students in teaching about Fire Safety. Thank you to Robert Caldwell and Carol Blanshine for making a connection between caring adults that work in our building and their roles in keeping all of Charlotte safe. For ideas on what your family could talk about during Fire Prevention Week , this site is very useful.
Congratulations to our fall athletes and the coaches who have taken their love of a sport and created an experience unprecedented. Our players have approached the season of soccer and cross country with an open mind to camaraderie, and physical and social wellness. The focus of this season is on the lifelong lessons of fun, mentorship, flexibility, and individualized goals setting. Thank you to our coaches and all of the fans who cheered these young athletes on.
We wish all of you a relaxing fall weekend!
Kind Regards,
Jen, Amanda and Beth

REQUEST FROM ERIKA NORRIS, CCS ART EDUCATOR:
Jewelry Making Club is one of many clubs offered during the middle school project block time on Wednesdays. Students have been working hard to create friendship bracelets, beaded necklaces, earrings, and many more wearable masterpieces. In order to support these ongoing creations we are looking for supplies, including but not limited to:
- Earring pins and wires
- Spring rings (of all sizes)
- Clasps for bracelets and necklaces
- Thin wire
- Thin stretchy cord
- Beads
If you have any of these materials that you are willing to part with (or others that you think would be fun for jewelry making) we would happily accept any and all contributions. It has been very fulfilling seeing and supporting students engaging in their personal interests, and from what I have seen, students are really enjoying this time as well!
Please email Art Educator, Erika Norris, at enorris@cvsdvt.org if you can donate.
Thank you in advance for any and all jewelry making donations. 🙂

- High school mentors work alongside students to grow their skills and resilience, guide in goal-setting, and even explore possible career paths through new interests and experiences.
If you consider yourself fun, caring and trustworthy, your consistent presence can enhance a young person’s self-confidence, improve their academic performance, prevent substance use, and help them discover new passions. All while enriching your own life.

CVSD FALL FAMILY AND CAREGIVER SURVEY IS LIVE!
The CVSD Fall 2023 Panorama Fall 2023 Family Survey will stay open through next Friday 10/20/23. Please complete the survey, if you have not done so already. So far, twenty families from CCS have completed the survey. Please take a moment to give us your feedback.
CVSD values your feedback and we want to know what you think!
We are currently surveying our families and caregivers to gain insight into your perception of our school and district's effectiveness. To ensure that we continue to provide high-quality, rigorous learning experiences that meet the needs of our learners and prepare them for college, career, and the future, we would love to learn your opinion on the progress towards those ends.
To administer these surveys, we have partnered with Panorama Education to conduct our Fall 2023 Family Survey. Panorama safeguards your privacy, keeping your responses confidential and anonymous. The survey will be a valuable source of information for us as we work to make our schools and our district exemplary.
You may complete the survey online between September 22 and October 13 using a computer, tablet, or smartphone. If you have children in more than one of our schools, we'd appreciate you sharing your thoughts about each separately. Please note: we are not certain that the survey saves if you have to step away while completing it. Please try to fill it out in one sitting.
We thank you in advance for your thoughtful responses. If you have any questions about the survey administration, please don’t hesitate to contact us using Let's Talk and selecting the General Questions topic.
Thank you,
Rene Sanchez, Superintendent
Champlain Valley School District
