2nd Marking Period Celebrations

For the 2nd marking period we had 50% of our students earn Honor Roll or Highest Honors! We also had 105 students with perfect attendance for the 2nd marking period. Keep up the great work, EMS!

Congratulations EMS Math Counts

Congratulations to the EMS Math Counts team and Ms. Skulski and Ms. Cazares. The team came in 13th place. One student, Chloe D., qualified for states as an individual!

Important Information

Monday, February 12th, will be an A DAY.


Support the EMS Theater Program by having dinner at Slim Chickens on Thursday, February 15th from 4:00 - 9:00 pm.

Celebrating Black History Month

February is Black History Month, and EMS's celebration theme will be "Black Excellence in Education." We will highlight various HBCUs in Maryland, Virginia, DC, and Pennsylvania and how they have been vital to educating excellent leaders in America and around the globe. We would also like our EMS families to be a part of this celebration. If you, family members, or friends have attended or graduated from an HBCU, please send pictures to the EMS media center or email photos to Dr. Johnson (wnjohnson@smcps.org) so they can be added to our fantastic community bulletin board.

After-school Activities

Monday - James... Jr. (Insects, James), Symphonic Band - Percussion Only, and Volleyball

Tuesday -James... Jr. (James, Insects, Ladahlord, Dancers), Strength and Conditioning, and Symphonic Band

Wednesday - Yearbook, Math Counts, and Volleyball

Thursday - James... Jr. (All Cast), Basketball, Strength and Conditioning, Chess, and Civil Air Patrol

Friday - None

Upcoming Events

All SMCPS schools and offices will be closed on Monday, February 19th in honor of President's Day.


All students will participate in the Maryland School Survey during their ELA class on March 7th. Please see the letter below for more information.
