Please send students to school already dressed in what you would like for them to wear for their photo. Fall photos are only headshots that are used for the yearbook. Proofs will be sent home after photos are taken. You do not need to send in any money or fill out an order form prior to picture day.

Friday, October 13th is an NC Pre-K shutdown day. There will be no school for pre-k students on 10/13/23.

Monday, October 30th is a Teacher Workday. Please do not send students to school on 10/30/2023.

We will be celebrating our love of stories with a book character parade on the morning of October 27th. We are encouraging all of our students to dress as a character from one of their favorite books on 10/27. Our parade will begin at 9:00 am. Parents are invited to attend but may not check in to view the parade until 8:45 am.

This year our district has opted to utilize the Clever platform to streamline our student login process for accessing educational tools online. Students have QR codes and/or log-in credentials that they may use to access a customized homepage of some of our most-used learning tools. Please feel free to use this log-in on your devices at home for easy access to student resources. Please direct any questions regarding Clever log-ins to your student's teacher.

It's finally time for Final Forms! Final Forms rolled out on Friday, September 29th.

Everyone who provided us with their email address should have received an email on 9/29 to register their account and complete the process. Final Forms accounts contain digital versions of all of the required school forms for the beginning of the year. We will no longer be collecting paper copies of these forms. Please register your account and complete these important forms as soon as possible! Screen-shots of instructions and FAQ's can be found on the Pamlico County Schools Facebook page.

October is Fire Safety Month. The goal of Fire Prevention Month is to raise fire safety awareness and help protect homes and families. In 1922, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) named the second week of October Fire Prevention Week in commemoration of the Great Chicago Fire in 1871. In partnership with Pamlico County Emergency Management and the NC Fire Service, our students will have multiple opportunities during the month of October to learn about Fire Safety from special guest presenters.

Progress reports went home on Tuesday, 9/26. mCLASS Reports were attached to all progress reports. These reports show parents valuable information regarding their student's performance in reading. To better understand the information presented in this report and find resources to help your child, please see the attachment below.

What is the Science of Reading? Check out the attached presentation from the NC Department of Public Instruction to learn more about why we are focusing on the Science of Reading and why it is such an important component of what we teach students at PCPS.
