A Message From Our Superintendent
October 29, 2020
Dear GPISD School Community,
November is traditionally one of my favorite months--the weather is getting cooler, we get to honor the veterans in our community, we have a week-long break for Thanksgiving, and there are many fun fall activities to enjoy with loved ones. This year, November also brings a very important election, and I urge each of you to exercise your right to vote.
I'm so appreciative of you- our students, parents and community members- who supported Galena Park I.S.D. through this first grading period of the school year. Transitioning some of our students back to campuses, while continuing to provide remote instruction for others, took tremendous effort and trust from the entire school community, and for that I thank you each of you. It finally feels like we are getting nearer to what our "new normal" operations may look like this year. However, we will remain vigilant in implementing safety and health protocols on all campuses.
It is my deepest hope and most sincere prayer that we continue our progress in reducing the spread of the COVID virus, but this will only happen if we all continue to do our part in keeping each other safe; this means wearing our masks, washing our hands frequently, coughing carefully into our elbows, and using hand sanitizer often. Another thing we can do to help reduce the spread of the virus is to limit our exposure to others--in other words, do not gather in large crowds or get close to others who choose to not wear masks. I respectfully ask these inconveniences of you for your own good, for the good of your loved ones, and for the good of our school community.
Wishing you a safe and Happy Thanksgiving,
John C. Moore, Jr., Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
